In the first 11 months of 2022, 24,000 electric vehicles were sold in Israel including 6,000 in November alone and 64% of the electric vehicles sold in Israel this year were made in China. This figure includes Western brands that are manufactured in China such as Tesla and Polestar (Volvo) although the Chinese see them as exports to the west.


Chinese carmaker Geely leads the way in overall 2022 EV car sales in Israel. Geely has sold 5,700 of its Geometry C EVs and has a 25% market share. In second place in Tesla, which has sold 4,000 Model 3 EVs, giving it a 17.5% market share. In third place is Chinese company BYD, which has sold 1,860 of its ATTO 3 EVs, despite only launching in Israel two months ago.

It will be harder to buy Phev in Shanghai, other cities might follow or not?

Other cities will follow. PHEVs are just a temporary transition vehicle

And you can't argue "range anxiety" in Shanghai where distances are short and chargers are everywhere

And this argument will apply in the vast majority of cities in the future, as most Chinese people (1 billion+) live in densely populated provinces.

This is BYD finally getting its cars into Jordan. Looks like they have set up the product warranty now. They should enter more West Asian countries soon.

and they continue to win in energy storage contracts. In this case, they got an order for 201.6MWh energy storage from Shandong electric for 260 million RMB. Again, I expect the BYD battery storage to have a lot higher delivery/sales next year as all their battery plant ramps up.

Xiangyang battery factory is now in production.

There should be a lot more of this going online next year. Each production line produces around 1.875 GWh of battery a year. The battery production increase next year will allow them to supply their own cars, energy storage and som external customers.

So, it produced more cars up until October than Shanghai giga.

由于比亚迪是垂直整合模式,所以比亚迪的基地通常不仅有整车还有发动机、电池、零部件等一堆配套,怎么能直接比?

特斯拉上海工厂从本质上看。更类似于一个核心是压铸+总装的产线,当然这样效率最高。宁德不是在周边配套了一个电池厂么?很多诸如零部件库存的空间,都转嫁给供应商了。当然效率高。
Tesla certainly has a good setup with suppliers around Shanghai Giga, but BYD has all the parts suppliers around Xian.

  • Like BYD's Blade Battery and CATL's Qilin Battery, Svolt Energy's Dragon Armor Battery is an innovation in battery pack construction that does not involve battery chemistry.
  • The Dragon Armor battery system with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells has an improved volumetric pack efficiency of 76 percent and can have a range of more than 800 kilometers, the company said.
  • Dragon Armor batteries with high-manganese iron-nickel cells can achieve a range of more than 900 kilometers.
  • Ternary cells can have a range of more than 1,000 kilometers, Svolt Energy said, adding that the batteries with ternary cells support 4C (15-minute) fast charging.
  • The Dragon Armor Battery has the cell blast valve at the bottom of the pack, so if a cell gets out of control, the pressure can be relieved quickly and not spread to neighboring cells, the company said.
  • The battery features a double-sided cooling design that puts a large area of the cells in contact with the cooling plate, improving heat transfer capacity by 70 percent over conventional designs, it said.
  • China's national standard requires a battery pack not to catch fire within five minutes in the event of thermal runaway, while Dragon Armor batteries can ensure that thermal runaway in a single cell does not spread to adjacent cells, thus ensuring that the entire pack does not catch fire, the company said.
