They have an announcement planned about Chile this month. I wonder if they will also announce a Lithium mining deal as well as a processing and cathode deal.

The Brazilian plants news should come out in a week.
Damn a few years ago BYD was a company that made Musk laugh. Nowadays they are one of the titans (being vertically integrated help).

Tesla is launching Model 3/Y in Thailand for delivery starting in Q1. I'm assuming from Shanghai Giga.
Model 3 prices are 1.759 to 2.309 million THB
Model Y prices are 1.959 to 2.509 million THB

So the cheapest is still over $50k

Keep in mind that Atto 3 are priced at 1.099 to 1.199 million THB. Hence the appeal. I do think that this level of pricing probably set the market for what Seal is likely to be priced. BYD would want Seal to be slightly cheaper than Model 3.

So this actually makes sense to me. Battery factory for the commercial vehicle business (their own and other companies like NURO and such). On top of that, they are getting a lot of ESS sales with BYD Cube, so that would work too.

It's also quite possible they will end up building this in Mexico. I still think they end up building a car plant in Mexico.

BYD Atto 3 has potentials to become the next "Corrola".

In some years, global Corrola sales were around 1M units, which examplified Toyota as a dominant global auto brand. In the process Corrola has become a legendary brand in itself. If you ask American teenagers, they may not know who their president is, but they definitely know what Corrola is.

I think BYD should put long-term strategies and resources in making Atto 3 the "Corrola" of the EV age. Its size and price fits perfectly the middle classes of the EV age. I have owned full-size SUVs and sub-compact cars in the past. I will definitely put Atto 3 in top 3 choices of my next car if it is available in local dealers.

There are many fringe benefits if BYD can pull that off. When global Atto 3 reaches 500K a year, BYD would be regarded as the new "Toyota" globally.

Another step for Tesla to become a Chinese company? Anyway, I'm just glad it's not an Indian CEO again!
