BYD and FAW-VW (not including SAIC-VW) are now fighting for number 1 car brand in China 2022

I think BYD is going to take it unless FAW-VW gives massive discounts in December.

Not completely sure but I think this would be the first time that a domestic Chinese brand has taken this position.

While the news from Europe is welcome, the last thing I want to see is Chinese companies setting up factories in India. BYD should be discouraged from doing this.
It's only assembly, I guess this assembly factory was decided to be built for lower tariffs purposes, and another thing is cheaper labour.

A couple of pieces of news. BYD receiving 583 orders so far in Bangkok auto show, 4th on the list. See how the Japanese dominate the Thai market? More BYD models here would be big trouble for them. BYD has caused serious sales declines for Toyota/Honda in China.

The first 5 Q1R electric port tug are now delivered to India. 400 have been ordered by Adani group to be delivered by 2023.

This is BYD getting into every aspect of commercial vehicles. BYD will not leave such a large and growing market like India.

继南美大批量认证项目完成并出口到包括巴西、哥伦比亚、墨西哥、厄瓜多尔、乌拉圭等在内的多个国家之后,宋车型(主要是宋PLUS DMi和EV)的欧洲大批量、澳洲、北美地区市场的认证工作也已经着手开展。

不清楚宋家族在目前月销6万+的基础上还能增长多少。明年除了宋PLUS的增配小改款车型,比亚迪应该还会推出全新一代宋Pro和宋Max、宋家族硬派越野、宋家族新的旗舰车型-宋L。
Looks like Song+ DM-i/EV will do more than just Latin American and Central Asian countries. It will eventually reach Europe, Australia and North America. Song family is the most popular family in China, so no reason they wouldn't be popular elsewhere. I'm just not sure why they would they need to keep coming out with new versions of Song when they already have so many models. Causes confusion.

The price of lithium battery increased for the first time since 2010. However, the current price has decreased almost 90% compared to 2010.

Elon Musk's research team is accused of animal abuse (probably monkeys and other primates) and is under investigation.

The other interesting part is their investment into Chengdu. Back a couple of months ago, BYD met with Sichuan party chief to discuss semiconductor production and then they registered a new subsidiary in Chengdu for 100 million RMB. It looks like they are taking over the former fab location of Tsinghua Unigroup (紫光集团) who had a dram fab out there. Given that 1.59 billion RMB has been transferred here for the ownership of this place, it seems like BYD is taking over a pretty large fab and need to invest a lot more money to ramp up production here. It's not clear to me if this represents BYD intention in getting into non-auto chip sectors (or at least areas outside of MCU and IGBT)

Look at that, 16.8 billion on ADAS, chip plant. Are they actually going to make their own SoC? That's a lot of money
10.6 billion on large car plant. with parts, batteries packs, electric motors and such + final assembly for 300k cars (maybe more??)
5 billion on new battery plant
3.5 billion on new R&D base for car designs and such.

This is huge!
