The point of US sanctioning BYD is moot.

Wan Chuan Fu built BYD into the world's most vertically integrated car company and allowed Berkshire Hathaway 10% sake for one reason: sanction proof. Just in case you don't know, BYD even builds their own IGBT devices.

Wang Chuan Fu went in a totally different direction from Ren Zhen Fe in that
(1) Ren built Huawei into a true global company. Huawei favored US companies over local ones for supply. All were good and dandy before US sanctions. Now Huawei have to turn the ship 90 degrees.
(2) Wang Chuan Fu built BYD into a vertically integrated industrial enterprise from day one.
(3) Huawei's global revenue was on par with domestic revenue before sanctions.
(4) BYD has barely started its international drive.
(5) It would be downright stupid to claim an EV is a national security threat.

That being said, let us imaging US sanctions BYD the same way as Huawei.
(1) Tesla cannot escape. Not even Xi Jinping can find any excuse not reciprocating on Tesla.
(2) Tesla market cap is 7 times that of BYD, with lots of pension funds invested.
(3) When TSLA crashes, the collateral damages would order-of-magnitude larger than any harm BYD gets.
(4) BYD is becoming the 2nd largest battery vendor and holds patents on blade battery technologies.
(5) Warren Buffet still holds around 8% of BYD.
(6) BYD is one of few foreign companies that run a successful union-base manufacturing company in US.
(7) Without BYD, US would have to buy electric buses from other foreign companies. From Yu Tong???
(8) When news breaks out in China, all US car companies would be boycotted by people. BYD becomes a darling of Chinese identity in China nowadays. Anyone who dares buy a US branded car after would be called out in the Chinese social media (人肉搜索).
(9) I could list another 800 bullet items but you are getting my point.

Whatever you think about the US politicians, the last thing they would do is to wrack S&P500 or NASDAQ, period.

But Apple still has a larger market cap than tesla. So wrecking Apple has even more effects on US shareholders. This will make the clowns think twice about banning Huawei.

BYD has signed phase 2 agreement with Fuzhou, Jiangxi gov't at Nanchang.

It's not clear to me what the eventual size of the production will be once fully ramped, but previous rumors were 350k a year in total. I think it's possible they will go higher than that since they are already going to be up to 20k per month sometimes later this year with just phase 1.

With October sales, we are seeing more evidences of which automakers are struggling and which are improving. Keep in mind that anything below 10k is basically irrelevant

LeapMotor at just 7k for October

XPeng at just 5k

NIO at 10k. They claim production slow down due to COVID controls

LiAuto at 10k.

So far, all these automakers are going in the wrong direction. You do not want to be seeing sales decline in October after making promises of increased production levels earlier in the year.

Aito (Huawei) at 12k
Their numbers are up from 10k in Aug/Sep. However, the fact they were the first to cut prices after Tesla did is not a good sign for their sales prospect.

about flat yoy if i remember correctly.

Again, most of these automakers aren't doing great. AITO is likely going to see increased sales here because they are building that new factory, but this generally is the affect of BYD increasing production. Sure, legacy automakers suffer, but the weaker domestic players will also suffer.

India launches investigation into SAIC-owned MG Motor’s accounts as scrutiny of Chinese firms widens

  • Analysis of the company’s financial statements indicated suspicious related-party transactions, alleged tax evasion, under and over-invoicing of bills, sources said
  • Subsidiaries of other Chinese firms such as Xiaomi, ZTE, Oppo and Vivo have also faced similar investigations by Indian authorities
India has begun an inquiry into MG Motor India over alleged financial irregularities, according to people with knowledge of the matter, deepening a scrutiny of Chinese firms operating in the country.
The probe against the local unit of the Chinese carmaker SAIC Motor has been initiated by India’s ministry of corporate affairs. The scrutiny started after a detailed analysis of the company’s financial statements indicated suspicious related-party transactions, alleged tax evasion, under and over-invoicing of bills and other irregularities, the people said, asking not to be identified as the matter is not public.
The company’s top management, including directors, managing director and auditors have been summoned next month by the ministry seeking more clarification, the people said.
MG Motor said it has been a sent a notice seeking clarifications on why the company posted an operational loss in the first year of business in 2019-2020.
“We fully cooperate with the government authorities on all issues and are in process of providing the desired records and information to the registrar of companies within the stipulated time frame,” the company said in a statement.
The company added that it is impossible for any car company to be profitable in the first year of operations.
“This is because of the huge capex investment required and the long gestation period in a highly competitive market such as India where many multinationals have struggled for decades and have accumulated losses,” MG Motor said, adding that its accounts were audited.
The ministry is already investigating the account books of more than 500 Chinese companies to look into allegations of significant financial impropriety, Bloomberg News had reported earlier.

Guangxi Bossco has signed agreement with PT.YONG QING INDUSTRY of Indonesia. This is for cooperation on recovery and recycling of used lithium-ion batteries and battery waste. the Indonesian gov't has been very vocal about desire to get further up the value chain. They have the large Nickel deposit. So it looks like Chinese companies are working with them in this area.
