There are a couple of articles about BYD in Brazil that I need to read through. Other than that, here are some other news.

BMW will be partnership up with Envision Group to build battery factory in America. So, that's the second Chinese battery operation in America now.
From a couple of days ago, Envision looking at huge expansion.

I think it's just a matter of time before CATL announces.

BYD presentation from Paris Motor show
Looks like they had quite the crowd. It really helps to be the world's largest NEV maker. Other Chinese EV makers are unlikely to get this kind of reception. I think BYD needs to be careful in Europe and make strong local connections. They need to open up final assembly, battery, chips and solar factories in Europe if they want to be successful

Also, as I posted in semi thread. Silan Microelectronics with huge expansion plans

7.2 million cars. They must have large orders coming. Imo, they will be supplying chips for non Chinese EVs.

Now Robosense is opening an office in North America. It's really just a matter of time before Lidar firms get out of the Chinese market. The only thing I would caution is actual EV makers entering the US market. That would cause alarm for sure.

Look at this, autonomous tractors. We are just at the beginning of AI/computing/unmanned world. China is clearly leading here.

I think Seal and Dolphin will be much larger deals than Han/Tang. They are more built for the international market.

Huawei's Seres will use die-casting to make chassis.

BYD will provide financing services for their buyers in Brazil.

It seems that BYD is China's top auto manufacturer even among legacy automakers:

What kind of twisted logic Graham has. Just don't get what he means win-win. It is entirely up to the US to enact a total or partial ban on Chinese batteries. It is more like the US has difficulty to source EV batteries from elsewhere that got him rethinking.

The new law includes raising the percentage of battery components that must originate from North America based on value. It also disallows batteries with any Chinese components after 2023.

Graham said the United States will never be able to make batteries entirely domestically.

"We're going to have to sit down with the Chinese," Graham said, saying the law needs to be revised. "It can be a win-win."

It looks like big oil has been making campaign donations

" He also want to look at the impact of shifting away from internal combustion engines - even though he thinks oil will still be used in transportation for decades. "The ripple effect of producing electric cars is enormous," Graham said. "What do you do with the oil industry?"

What does he want to talk when he said "sit down with the Chinese"? It sounds like Chinese are aliens to him. Does he want the Chinese to concede something in batteries industry?
