I think they are pretty alarmist. I mean there has been tremendous investment into SiC chips by Chinese chipmakers in the recent years.

This is just from this morning. There will be no issue getting enough SiC modules based on this Li Auto comment. I know that BYD has it's own huge expansion plans for Sic chips. No concerns here people. People that put these articles out there have not bothered to research into BYD.

I'm not a fan of this Geely buying everyone strategy. Seems risky for me.

Li auto will produce 10k+ L9 in September and have now unveiled prices for L7 and L8. Keep in mind that they don't produce L1 anymore, so this is basically all they are producing.

ET5 delivery starting in end of september

These are Chinese electric vehicles (DongFeng?) that going to assemble in Russia.
they give 3 years warranty for personal use but only 1 year warranty if used as Taxi for battery.

Do they need EV in Russia? In oil rich countries, they go out of their way to burn oil so that their engine options are large displacement gas engines. For example, lets take Toyota Hilux. For most regions that need to watch their fuel consumption, they offer turbodiesel as base engine. But in oil rich countries where gas is cheap, they use a V6 gas engine instead.

It seem ease of manufacturing to scale up and also it says there is lithium manufacturing in the area. but i am surprised by its one year warranty for Taxi. i think they will disappoint with real range. 400km from 53kwh battery not going to happen in most cases.

, a large number of industrial enterprises and a high level of training of technical personnel - all this will allow localizing the key components of electric vehicles according to the signed SPIC, "he said.

large displacement non-turbo engines are more reliable over long term. thats why those vehicles still have good resale value.

I wonder if it would be possible for Dongfeng's passenger car division to be acquired by Stellantis in exchange for larger share in Stellantis (they currently already have 4.5%).

Unlike their truck division which is a relative success, Dongfeng has been unable to produce their own competitive passenger car brand and still almost completely rely on their joint ventures (Dongfeng Nissan, Dongfeng-Honda and Dongfeng-PSA) to generate almost all their sales. The most popular Dongfeng-branded car is an abysmal rank 70 in China, with only 8000 sales a month. Their new Voyah still struggles to get over 3000 sales a month.

They are way behind in EV, engine, platform and transmission tech. Even though Stellantis is mainly a hodgepodge of western "loser" companies they still have decent engine and EV tech that Dongfeng could adopt. Dongfeng could be their launchpad into the APAC region which Stellantis is weakest in.
