It's getting crazier. First, BYD unveiled an 1,000 kW/1 MW charger. Then Zeekr will reveal an 1,200 kW/1.2 MW charger during the Shanghai auto show in lat April. Now, Huawei will debut an 1,500 kW/1.5 MW charger during the same auto show.

Charging War!
Probably can only happen in China because of the abundance of electricity and the robustness of the electricity grid. Below is a chart comparing BYD's 1,000 kW/1 MW charger with others. Imagine how fast Zeekr's 1,200 kW/1.2 MW and Huawei's 1,500 kW/1MW chargers will be.

It's probably a foregone conclusion that BYD's pure battery EV (BEV) sales will overtake Tesla's this year. BYD sold 416,388 BEV in Q1, while Tesla will only sell 340,000-377,000, according to Bloomberg. In terms of export, BYD delivered 206,084 units in Q1, on track of its whole year goal of 800,000.

Didn't follow the car market for a couple months and it seems like so much has changed.

Seems like Li Auto, Xpeng, Leapmotor are strengthening their positions as the top 3 of the startup brands, while Huawei's brands are falling behind and Nio continues floundering as usual

Meanwhile Geely has finally decided to clean up their giant mess of a brand lineup and restructure Zeekr and Lynk and Co.

Now, it remains to be seen whether the SOEs will finally merge their passenger brands under Changan. Unlikely but I'm still hoping it happens

There has been many cases where Chinese companies in India had to pay fines etc., BYD seems to be trying for the 2nd time now, they somehow feel EV's in India have high potential.
I think they are getting this wrong - unless charging infrastructure improves massively, EV's won't sell a lot in India. Not to mention the insane amount of GST in India.
It's called Grand Theft Auto. All Chinese companies should be forbidden to set up high tech operations there.
If India feels that it is a superpower, surely there is no problem if it has to industrialize on its own.

Nat sec considerations and all that. Deal should be blocked by Chinese Gov
just relax guys .....

this was just the bogus news initiated by Indian media..

Official from BYD itself -

company refuted media reports claiming the Chinese NEV giant is mulling setting up a car factory in Hyderabad.

Huawei's sales are down because they are refreshing their entire lineup. The new AITO M9's hard preorder numbers are through the roof. It will still dominate the ¥50W+ RMB SUV market. The AITO M8 will be released next month, and the AITO M7 will be refreshed later this year. I expect both to sell well, especially the M8, which has an insane number of soft preorders already. The EREV version of the Stellato S9 has also generated massive interest due to its very competitive price, while the Luxeed R7 has been gaining popularity due to the addition of Liu Yifei as a spokesperson. I think the Maextro S800 will sell well too, but we'll see.
