these are the kind of things BYD really needs to improve on. Frankly, it actually does work its employees to death at the way it's going. Apparently, a lot of people are not going to be allowed to go home for Chinese New Years.
Hmmm....if they can do this in Brazil which is by far their biggest and most promising overseas market outside China then i think there is little hope they will change this culture/practice.
Moreover, i thought it was the sole fault of the building contractor but it seems BYD admitted being fully aware of this and indirectly backef such practices. Its shameful for such a big innovative promising company. They really need to change this practice, else they might lose out in many foreign markets once they have fully tarnished their reputation.

@tphuang looks like you're going to have to wait a bit longer for that Brazilian BYD plant.

I didn't want to debunk this fake narrative against BYD, but than I realized certain members parrot the fake news in bad faith so I had to. One of the workers there already pointed out how the conditions are fine, they work eight hours a day and get paid 13000 Yuan per month. The fake news is just a scheme by the local Brazilians to kick the Chinese contractors out and take their job instead.

Then they should stop being cheap and hire Brazilians. Why are they bringing over so many Chinese workers? You are building a plant in Brazil to serve Brazilian market.

byd needs to learn that dealing with inefficient overseas work force is part of going outside of China.

Uh why would they do that? BYD wants to make larger profits, and China still needs to a way to absorb excess labour.

What is the mistake here?

That they didn't rectify or act when the issue was discovered.
BYD said it had conducted a “detailed review” in the past few weeks of working and living conditions for subcontracted employees, and had asked on “several occasions” for its construction firm to make improvements.
They should have done more when the issue was discovered. The response here was not good.
