Aren't there also government regulations/taxes on high displacement (aka high performance) engines?I wrote something up on important of battery tech in BEV that goes beyond just energy density and why it's so much better than ICE
I also saw somewhere that 1.5L can be exported under ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement
The economic incentive is much higher for small engines.
Actually, the shift away from incentives benefits Elon. He can continue making Tesla's as cheaply as possible, while having the EV market all to himself. There will be people who buy EVs regardless of government mandates because they are green or just like them better.Elon going full Wumao.
Never, there is too much union baggage and overcapacity in GM or Ford.Tesla is gong to buyout gm or ford for their ICE business.
North America might become some weird ICE island like how Cuba has all those 50's cars. It will be the only place where transmissions are still made. Once the public is more comfortable with EVs, you might have more daring packaging, like a mobile office with ADAS, allowing you do work while on the go, something like a cube with the batteries on the floor and motors at the wheels. ICE can still have the ADAS, but the packaging is constrained because the engine has to be a huge thing at the front. Or there will be really useful features like V2H backup if there is a power outage.
