Yes...I am very well aware of all of the Tollkien series films being made in NZ.

Box office receipts for the movie was not as great as expected in NZ. Alot of people claiming to have been hobbited out. I went to see the movie and felt the movie was very slow in parts. The story of the Hobbit is not actually that long and I feel they could have made two three hour movies or three two hour movies and i feel jackson was being a little indulgent. I think the triology spawned too many films or television series of a similar vein and by the time the Hobbit came around, some people are getting a little tired of the genre.

Having lived in the inter-mountain west of the United States for the past 20+ years, I can tell I would be at right at home in that country there in New Zealand.

You certainly would Jeff.
I house kept for my son in Queenstown for a year or so a littlw while ago and regard the general area as my second home . I actually have a holiday home in Wanaka which is about a hours drive out of Queenstown. "Southern Mountain Adventures" is based here and they have a private 100,000 acre station from which you can hunt Tahr, Red Stags and Chamois. Ive shot a few of those over the years.

I just watch the 3rd Batman movie on DVD and have to say it's okay, not as good as the second one with Heath Leadger played as the Joker. I don't know, Bane is smart and strong, a pretty good villain, but reminds me too much of Darth Vader with that breathing apparatus. It did show some nice scenery of Chongqing, but I doubt the audience would recognize it though.

What??? I thought the last one was the best.

That list is the ones I would "like" to see. it is not all the movies I will see. The better half, aka "The Boss," will surely have a few of those movies she will want me to go along with and see, and I will do so. I recently went with her to see "Les Mis," and we both suffered through it. Were not aware that it was a Operatta and that there was no...as in zero...dialog. I read the book and liked it...though it was very long and sometimes tedious. But this latest movie was not something either of us ended up liking. Will not be buying that one in any digital form.

We both liked Jack Reacher and Skyfall, so as you see she does come to some of "my" movies. So, I return the favor and go see hers too. All part of the dance after 35 years of marriage.

This last year I went with her to see Les Mis, Moonrise Kingdom, Trouble with the Curve, and Here Comes the Boom. The last two were kind of borderline movies I would like anyway, but we both enjoyed them.

Now, in 2012, I saw quite a few movies, here''s the list in addition to the ones above I went to with my wife (Ones with astericks are ones I took my grandkids to):

Marvel's The Avengers
The Dark Knight Rises
Skyfall
Ice Age: Continental Drift *
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey *
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2
The Amazing Spider-Man
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted *
The Hunger Games
MIB 3
Brave *
Prometheus
Snow White and the Huntsman
Life of Pi
Taken 2
Dr. Seuss' The Lorax *
Wreck-It Ralph *
Battleship
Wrath of the Titans
The Expendables 2
John Carter
Rise of the Guardians *
The Bourne Legacy
Total Recall (2012)
Mirror Mirror
The Pirates! Band of Misfits *
Jack Reacher
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Act of Valor
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days *
Beauty and the Beast *
The Odd Life of Timothy Green *
Red Dawn

I just read Jackie Chan's Chinese Zodiac just made $116 million in two weeks in China. I wonder if Chinese citizens have access and read Western entertainment news media. Interesting how these movies are now rivaling Hollywood releases in the Chinese box office after gloating US movies reign in China.
