what about SW: TPM 3D? is it worth paying $16 for it? I don't care too much for ep 1 (especially jar jar) BUT if the 3D is really done well I don't mind seeing it in the theatres. BD I know you'w big SW fan. Have you seen it in 3D at the theater yet?

My friend dragged me to watch it. But if you care about the 3D... it was actually a nice conversion compared to others. But I actually found my blue rays were better quality. I can see details unlike when wearing the glasses.

Went to watch The Raid: Redemption last night. I believe it won the Toronto Film Festival popular vote. If you like wall to wall action, this is the movie for you. But as I suspected so I wasn't caught up in the hype like on the internet about this movie, it's not anything unique than from some of the best action movies you see coming out of Asia except it's nearly wall to wall action.

It's about a Indonesian police raid on a multi-story apartment building controlled by a druglord. They try to sneak in covertly on their way up to the druglord's HQ only to get discovered by lookouts. The druglord goes on the intercomm system and tells the residents of the building whoever kills these policemen, they get free rent. So gangsters and renters attack the police and they have to battle their way back out.

Some logic flaws like their radios didn't have range and they didn't have cell phones to call for help? Some of the most undeveloped countries in the world have cell phones. Other than stuff like that it was fun if you like action movies. I've heard that Hollywood is already planning an American remake. What made this movie work was the simplicity. I'm a fan of John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 which this movie has been compared to but they ruined the remake especially by turning the faceless street gangs of the original into corrupt police officers. I don't see the situation of The Raid happening in a US city with all the technology available. So if they made an American remake, it would probably have to be a military or mercenary raid on a building in a messed up third world country where they can be easily cut-off.

anyone here seen Acts of Valor yet? it features real life Navy SEALs. Not sure if it's good or not I mean it's good marketing and my highest respect for them but they are not trained actors LOL....I watch a movie for entertainment otherwise I'll watch a documentary if I want to see 'real' stuff..

I saw it and it was absolutely great, IMHO.

The SEALS did a great jb and the acting was excellent IMHO. As I understand it, they did a lot of their own stunts, and if something wasn't true to form they changd it so it was.

Good storyline...actually semed like several missions strung together to provide a storyline that was exciting and entertaining. My guess is, clearly, the details of the mission while true to life were not actual for OpSec reasons.

I'd recommend it highly.

Just saw Flying Swords of Dragon Gate yesterday. Special effects were impressive, and Jet Li is my all time favorite actor. The characters were really cool too, especially the Tatars.

Unfortunately, the storyline was subpar. The twist at the end felt completely artificial.

I saw the '92 remake "New Dragon Gate Inn". I don't remember much of that movie...

Yep. All I can remember about that movie is a guy who cleaves people's flesh off their bones like crazy! you face off with him... All of a sudden, you find out all you have left is your hand bones and not a piece of meat on it...

And the new "flying Dragon Gate" movie is no good to me. Looks like a whole lot of special effects bunched together with no story. I fell asleep multiple times while watching it.

To this day, the best Chinese-language movie, in my opinion, is "the Assembly". Nothing has come close to match it.

Re: Reign of Assassins

IMO "Sink the Bismark" is still the best battleship movie.

Well, the "Battleship," is a sci-fi where as US battlegroup goes out off of Hawaii for large exercises and encounters an aline "Battleship" hding/harvesting under the ocean, whcih rises up and gives them battle. I intend to see it it, if for no other ereason to see all of the new major US surface combatants in action...the use of the Iowa Class in this film is interesting since they are in museum stauts.

Apparently the conflict expans beyond the naval encounter off of Hawaii.

I just saw Hunger Games this weekend and we really liked it. Good film, mostly true to the 1st book. If the sequals are as good, I will most certainly see them too.

Looking forward to MIB 3, The Avengers, as I say, BattleShip, The Hobitt, and several others coming out this year.

LMAO, that's exactly what I remember about it too!

That and the fact that the guy comes out of nowhere. It's the Final Battle, and the Big Baddie kicked all the good guys' asses. Things look dire... suddenly some guy appears and cleaves the flesh off the Big Bad's bones.

I was like... WTF???
