Green Hornet was a bomb. I thought Green Lantern was good, Captain America was good, Thor was good. Did not like the new XMen movie nearly as much as Wolverine before it. Going to see either the new Transformers, Planet of the Apes, or Cowboys and Aliens today with some of my grandkids.

Are you talking about the X men origins wolverine film? Because that was bloody terrible, and I think the first class film was pretty good.
Haven't seen green lantern, but green hornet was impressive -- seth rogen made some good comedy and avoided very possible cliches.

Im toying over Planet of the Apes, or Cowboys and Aliens, please advise on your final choice.:)

I saw planet of the apes just yesterday, definitely much more than I expected; good acting too, espicially the monkey. I haven't seen C&A but from the looks of reviews the film is not living up to the awesome title.

Thought it was a great movie. Its a reboot (not a remake) of the original, which keeps some of the core elements, whilst adding in a few interesting twists. Great visuals/cinematography and acting by the leads. Fantastic eye candy in Crystal Liu (刘亦菲). Looks to be the 1st in a new trilogy.

LOS ANGELES — Hollywood studio Relativity Media says it is partnering with two companies to make Chinese films for global audiences and distribute movies in the fast growing Chinese market.

The partnership teams Relativity with private equity firm SAIF Partners and IDG China Media, an investment arm of Boston-based International Data Group.

Relativity will also distribute future films in China through a joint venture called SkyLand, in which the three companies are co-owners. SkyLand will also invest in local film and TV production.

The companies are working on bringing well-known Chinese folklore tales to the big screen around the world.

SkyLand recently co-produced "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan," a movie inspired by the novel by Lisa See.

Relativity has produced or co-financed more than 200 movies including "Cowboys & Aliens," ''Bridesmaids," and "Limitless."

I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes. It was entertaining yet had some obvious holes. I can tell they cut out a lot scenes. They cut out the "love" interest for Caesar, Cornelia, and only mentioned her in passing. How did I confirm this? Because I later saw a clip in a TV commerical trailer where Caesar apparently rescues Cornelia from the lab. How many people saw the setup for the sequel with the lost Mars mission they mentioned? I had read that the next movie was going to be Full Metal Jacket with apes. Not sure if the apes will play the American part or they're the Viet Cong. Given how PC they were with this one, I doubt it. They obviously wanted to appease animal lovers by making the apes more "human" than humans which is why they didn't kill unless necessary. Which is also why the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" will come by default and not full on revolt by apes against their human oppressors.

Captain American was fun too and I liked the part where he had to prove himself to his peers even though he was a super soldier. My problem is the problem in general with some movies these days. Captain America had to get to the secret hideaway of Hydra... they were instantly there the next scene. Apes had a shorter runtime and it managed time well that it didn't seem to be just a ride and just another excuse to get to the next action scene.

We have seen all of the following this summer, with my 1-5 star rating for each from an action movie standpoint:

Cowboys and Aliens 4
Captain America 5
Transformers: Dark of the Moon 5
Green Lantern 5
X-Men: 1st Class 4
Thor 5

(my journal-long read), I have been taking the grandkids to a lot of movies. Seen more movies this summer at the theater than I have in the last 20 years combined. But being with the grandkids has been well worth it all...and believe me, its good to take the time to do it and have the fun with them because you never know when any given year may be your last.

I liked hydra's awesome salute. It completely caught me off guard and I was literally choking to prevent full laughter from coming out.

I dont see how the mars mission can really fit in for a sequel -- you'd think they would be completely screwed and stranded on the planet while earth gets taken over by apes? I thought it was just an Easter egg of sorts.
I'm also looking forward to the avengers, but I can't see captain America fitting in very well when his superpower is basically a bit of extra strength and muscle.

Everything in a movie serves a purpose in the story. If you know how to read a movie, you can make a good guess on the details of how it will end. In this case they're setting up the sequel. Unless the studio chooses not to follow the path Rise of the Planet of Apes has laid out, I guarantee you today's Charlton Heston is on that Mars probe.

May Your god be with you Jeff.

I went and saw Cowboys and Aliens. Always a sucker for a cowboy movie, but somehow Cowboys don't seem to gel with the Aliens. Unless I missed it , I dont think we were told what the aliens wanted with the humans in the first place.
Why they like making Aliens reptilian/ non humanoid looking , beats me.howow would they have had the dexterity to build a space ship in the first place.

story by By Joshua L. Weinstein, The Wrap

Ridley Scott is returning to his roots, revisiting his definitive -- and beloved -- cyberpunk film "Blade Runner," for Alcon Entertainment.

Filmmakers haven't hired a writer yet, and are still figuring out what the story will be, producer Andrew Kosove told TheWrap Thursday.

"This is arguably the greatest science fiction movie ever made and we're not remaking it," he said. "It's a prequel or a sequel."

Alcon secured the rights to "Blade Runner" for prequels, sequels and other projects last March.

They knew then that they wanted Scott to direct.

Warner Bros. Extends Production Deal With Alcon 2 More Years

"I'm not saying we wouldn't have come up with a Plan B," Kosove, Alcon's co-founder and co-CEO, said. "But the idea was always to go right to Ridley and that's exactly what we did."

Having Scott attached "gives people a level of comfort about how serious we are," Kosove said.

Kosove said the movie's themes "are even more relevant today than they were almost 30 years ago."

The 1982 movie is about Rick Deckard, a "blade runner" played by Harrison Ford. His job is to terminate "replicants," or human clones who are bred to work.

"No one could have envisioned from a technical standpoint how quickly the world would advance over the last three decades," Kosove said. "The question is, 'What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to have humanity? ... Both as a philosophical matter and also as a narrative matter, there are lots of jumping-off points from 'Bladerunner' to make something that is inspired by 'Bladerunner.'"

Kosove said it'll be up to Scott to decide whether to invite Ford to return, but "I do not anticipate it."

Hollywood Seized by 3D Mania

He said he'd like to have the movie inn production in a year-and-a-half.

"There will be one more announcement we will make before we go dark for a while," he said. "We have to figure out who the writer is going to be and a general framework for the movie."

Alcon bought the rights from producer-director Bud Yorkin, who will produce the new film along with Alcon, Cynthia Sikes Yorkin and Broderick Johnson and Kosove. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, the CEOs of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers.

Meanwhile, Scott is in postproduction on "Prometheus," a sort-of prequel to his classic 1979 "Alien," for Fox.

Deadline first reported the news.
