Yeah, I'm watching more chinese movies too but there's a kind of disturbing trend where more and more movies have a spoilt unreasonable female part where everyone dotes on or acquiesces to no matter how unreasonable she is.
sorry, but in my opinion these online comments don't represent the majority of Chinese people. It just does not match up with what I'm seeing and hearing here in China when talking about movies. Most common opinion I've heard is that they don't get why it was banned and will just have to download the movie now instead of seeing it in theaters.
Anyhow, at this point I think its just a matter of different opinions. This argument could go on forever.
How can you say promote Asian Americans when Shang Chi is mostly Chinese based yet they failed to promote anything Chinese the hardest?Indeed, many posters here don't fully understand Hollywood, subcultures in the US, and the realities of being "Asian American", and have some unwarranted prejudice against any or all of the above. Shang Chi is a mainstream Hollywood movie that tries to be "inclusive" of "Asian Americans", with all the good, the bad, and the ugly, and very little to do with China, Chinese people, and Chinese culture.
While we are on the topic of attractiveness I would say there are problems with the Chinese entertainment industry churning out skeletal and bleach white actors and actresses which is really promoting an unhealthy image regardless of whether one finds it attractive. Not unique to the Chinese entertainment industry but I hope they move on from that.
No wonder why I am getting more interested in Chinese films nowadays and almost two whole years, I couldn’t bring myself to watch a single marvel film or basically any western film with few exceptions
I write scripts and the majority have female leads. I personally like to watch a hot woman beat up a guy.
If you don't trust weibo etc. Maybe you can try a poll in this forum? I suspect that you won't get much different opinions from members (Chinese mainlanders) here than from Weibo.
In my opinion, Liu Simu is just an ordinary looking guy who would not have a chance if he was in China EXCEPT for minor roles or special roles.
About the banning, it is totally up to what Chinese in China think, there is no place for argument. "I don't like it, I ban it. I change my mind tomorrow, I let it in." Never argue with or try to prove the customer wrong, that is the only logic.
Eh, I don't see it.Liu Simu looks a lot like Lei Jiaying, who is pretty big in China. I don't understand what the big fuss is.
Eh, I don't see it.
