But I think that’s the point right? Sulu is one Asian, Spock is one alien, so somehow the number of aliens and Asians is equal. It’s not really logical.
I can't say too much about the banning and inclusiveness because frankly I don't know too much about it or over think it. If you think of the father as the real hero, then I think people wouldn't hate it as much. Also notable is that Tony Leung has never chased Hollywood, so he never cared about pleasing western audiences. When they came to him with this role, he said he could not turn it down.

Not really. There are the leads (Kirk, Spock, McCoy) and then supporting actors, which can be further divided into major (Sulu, Checkov, Uhura) and minor (guy in red shirt you've never seen before....and won't see again).

I guess you don't get that Shatner reducing his role on the show goes against what you claim is a major supporting role. He was just a part of the cast not having a major supporting role. Apply your NOMAD logic here...
Bro, it's the case based on social media reaction on Weibo, WeChat, and talking to my Chinese friends here in Toronto which was quite surprising to me and disappointing to hear at the same time. It's a cultural preference and since I have been living in North America for some time now my mindset has been Americanized in certain ways so I have a polar opposite view on Simu Liu than our brethrens in China.
Perhaps your wife isn't Chinese but Anglo-Saxon westernized which is also answers whyYes I've read Weibo and various online chats, and I'm not going to interpret some online comments as the opinion of China as a whole.
For the banning comment, yes that was my mistaken read. However, I still don't think yellow peril was really a thing in the movie. They in fact addressed it directly in the movie.
