Yup not even a on screen death.
Because of the 20 years gap between films we have to use the website as a back story like the Jurassic World website. So far it set's up a classic example of Sci-fi near future consistent with classics like Dr. Who, UFO, Captain Scarlet, and the Toho Kaiju films.
Post devastation the World was hit hard for a set time but then quickly set to rebuild. The big players US, UK, Europe, Russia, Japan and China set to work uniting the planet against the common foe and allocating man power and material to restore the major cities and economy. A Earth Self Defense force was formed and reverse engineering of Alien tech began. This lead of course to moon base, mars base and beyond as well as Hybrid fighters and pulse rifles. They also set some in commercial electronics smartphones, bladeless fans.
All of this was more prevention programs to ensure that they could fight them off again, as the first aliens were wiped out across earth except for in the Congo. There a war between Human and Aliens has continued with the locals refusing any help.

Yeah I saw raygun wielding humans in the trailer (as well as human space fighters). Felt that they are ripping off X-COM and Stargate SG-1 (to a lesser extent) in that regard.

far older then that I should think The Idea of reverse engineering alien tech in Scifi is far older then SG-1 or X-com.

It's also a fairly logical, the Aliens from independence day never deployed infantry. so fighters and blasters makes sense

Anyone here already got their tickets for SW this Friday etc? I'm ashamed to admit I have not even though I'm obviously a fan. Are they sold out? LOL

I'm usually not big into crowds etc but in this case I'll make the exception. I actually WANT to go see all the craziness of opening night!
What better way than to spend Fri evening with a bunch of over excited geeks right? It's entertainment in and itself.

I remember going to ep. 1 almost 20 yrs ago and the line was couple blocks long with people dressing up and general excitement in the atmosphere. Everyone clapped when the LucasFilms symbol came on screen! It was quite a night! .. and as rowdy as the crowds were yet when the movie came on everyone sat silent the entire time!

My youngest son (26) has his tickets. He and four friends are going Thursday night to a showing starting at 11 PM in Boise..

I'm just past dealing with the large crowds (particularly with the disabilities resulting form my cancer operations), or staying out that late (early), hehehe.

So, the week after Christmas, when I am off work, I intend to go when my oldest son is in town (31) and all three of us will go together.
