Thanks a lot. I also see that the PLA uses 4x4s or even lighter vehicles for recon. At least for non-heavy units. I think that is a good thing. European militaries invested too much in commonality to the point they do questionable things. Here is Boxer recon variant. There is no way this vehicle is avoiding combat.

Those boxers are over 3m in height, 35 tons weight, woefuelly unsuited for covert operations let alone airborne/mountain.

I talked with German Joint Fire Support personel and they really hope the coming JFS Boxer variant is only supplementing and not replacing their Fennek based JFS teams in the long run due to its absurd size and that a proper small size (in Germany we have Wiesel) vehicle for reacon gets chosen/developed.

This Boxer as universal platform thingy as again a child of budgetary reasons in european militaries

The mountain cat allows Chinese soldiers to bring heavier firepower available to airborne units, and also can be used to out-maneuver opponents and be more flexible with their insertion/extraction pts.

It's not designed for a comfortable ride just a fast one. They there for a good time not a long time.

Can the mountain cat be used as a weapon carrier to mount a HJ 12 atgm for example?
I haven’t seen such yet.

Confirmation that the new 6x6 ATV has a hybrid electric drivetrain, apparently a first for vehicles in service with the PLA.
