Yes I understand and fully agreed with what you have pointed out. And I have no problem with them using the Android OS... however what I have problem with is, why do they keep wanting to do something that look like Apple? Many of the brand even make their product look exactly like Apple iPhone... with more functions in it.

I mean, come on, the chinese is innovative enough and with enough skills and technology to create something special and I would say, in many ways better, why to they want to imitate Apple iPhone... right down to the logo - example - Golden Apple.

Not everything they make looks like Apple. They got things that look like Nokia too, including "Nokla". Its funny that some of these phones got touchscreens while Nokia featurephones don't.

Another one being copied often now is HTC. In some cases, the HTC copies themselves are better than the original. A case in point is the HTC clone having a more advanced edition of Windows Mobile than the original HTC model.

Small companies that built devices don't really have the money to fund large design efforts and long running marketing focus groups. That's why there is a big difference in the products companies like ZTE, Lenovo and Huawei makes vs. companies like SciPhone or Meizu. As always, if you want the better Chinese products, you go with the brand names---ZTE, Huawei, Haier, Lenovo, and so on.

Many excellent examples of Chinese innovation are not in consumer products. For example, Huawei got base stations that consolidate in a single base station, GSM, 3G UMTS, CDMA, EV-DO, so it can serve all handsets equally and allow different carriers to share on that station. Then they go further by providing solar or wind power to these stations, so they can be set up in remote rural regions that do not have access to power infrastructure and can be operated with much lower energy costs that can be passed to the users.

One of the most amazing things in China in 2009 is how the carriers spread wireless infrastructure to remote rural areas, and in doing so bring cellular technology to rural dwellers and farmers. Maybe its not apparent to you, but farmers directly benefit from wireless technologies. Weather forecasts and news---vital to a farmer's crop---can be relayed through mobile. The result of spreading wireless technologies to rural areas have a direct result in improving the GDP and living standards of people in those areas.

I change from Nokia to Samsung (it is cheap, only S$48, with contract)... and to say the truth... I hated it at first, maybe I have received a bad copy... it would auto shut down when I am in the middle to keying in a sms... and at first it hangs and my phone become burning hot...

But recently it had become more stable (maybe I have not use it as frequently as I used to) and so far so good. But given a choice again... I will not use Samsung anymore (maybe the later models are better) but I do not want to give myself unwanted stress...

I plan to buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab these few days. Unfortunately, the one I found on the market doesn't support Chinese. I wonder if it is the seller that didn't know how to switch to Chinese or the Galaxy that aims Eastern European market doesn't support Chinese. Anyone has an idea? It is possible to install Chinese if it doesn't originally support it?

Anyway, I almost get lost in the new theme of the forum.

I think you should be able to install an app. Did a quick search in the google and it came out tons of replies. Maybe you should type in "Samsung Galaxy Tab Chinese Input". Also there are youtube video showing people keying in CHinese text for Samsung Galaxy.

Just my two cents.

Oh... did another check and this is what I get,

"Chinese input is available. Just hold on to the text box and there will be an option to change input method. Use DioPen Chinese input."

Hope it help.

After having the Nokia 5800 for a year after taking Crobato's advice, finally got an Android phone. Sure both may have brilliant, clear touchscreens, 3g, and wifi, but the Android is so much better!

Got the Samsung Galaxy Captivate, and loving it! Having had a chance to use an iphone before deciding upon which phone to go with, I actually much preferred the Galaxy!

Thanks guys for your advices. Actually I have decided to go with it.

I did do some research but did not get all the answer I wanted, that's why I came up here with my questions. I love the Galaxy to be an internet device. It's too large for a phone and not so convenient to bring with. Hope that the Android 2.2 supports multi language just like the way that Windows XP does rather than relies on some dedicated language version. What makes me love it more is the availability of the ThinkFree Office which allows us to do a PowerPoint like presentation, and if it has a video output to a LCD projector, I would love it most.

After some more search... this guy seem knows a lot about the Galaxy Tab.

a day later...
... and I finally bought the Galaxy Tab. There are many things to be familiar with 'coz I never use an Android before.

That is one thing that I don't understand about the Chinese. They had the knowledge and the necessary skills to create something which looked like the Apple OS, why don't they design and create something totally new and original and sell it out using their own brand.

I believe they should be able to do it... but they are not doing it...
If doing like you, yes it works but takes long time, now they produce fake Iphone, and the Iphone have do lots of advertising for it, it is much more quicker and easier to get profit from it than build up a brand.
In fact China have many good things like what you said, cheap and good, just not so famours. Like the Cellphone what I am using now is Huawei U8500,big screen, WIFI, Android 2.1 systme, guess how much I bought it? RMB650 which means USD100.

Vow, this thread has slept for about 7 months. OK, wake up! After research and comparison between the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and other tablet, I finally get my hands on this dirty monster. It costs me $260 trade-in with my used Galaxy Tab 7 with screen guard and leather case free. The full price is $580.
