Why would a Chinese scientist developing hypersonic missiles, take the data from the wind tunnel and put it on the American company cloud servers on American soil? And this is what they are thinking of banning, banning something that does not exist. And will not exist.

Did Don Quixote win the war or something?

Is this what is taught in American schools, that Don Quixote emerged triumphantly in his real and imagined struggles?

The windmills of the world, trembling in unending fear.

Mercy! Have mercy!

China is finally speaking in their language. That's why all the commenters are so happy.

To the Anglo race, rivalry is respect, conflict is communication, cruelty is love.

That's why Americans are so obsessed with Oedipus complex and the Greek mythology. To them, fratricide is the ultimate coming of age ritual, where only by murdering his father will the son earn his mother's respect and have himself acknowledged by Western society.

This murderous instinct is so inherent to the Anglo family dynamic that Freud thought it was a fundamental part of the human psyche.

By practicing filial piety, barbaric Confucian societies spit in the face of this civilized Western tradition. Every time China says something something "harmony", they offend the Americans more.

By eschewing conflict, China is taking away their chance of a glorious warrior death. The US will not go down in history as a martyr, but as a disgrace.

Don't worry, the west will get deGallium from France and Germanium from Germany. That's how politicians think science works, right?
What? Nobody kills their dad to come of age in USA and tbh nobody is really obsessed by Oedipus complex.

You might not believe it, but this is a rather brainy board you know.

Hamlet was rumoured to have the Oedipus complex.

That is how good Shakespeare is, he knew about the Oedipus complex, before it was actually invented.

That is America today, to be passing useless legislation, or not to be passing useless legislation, that is the question.

July 4th, God Bless America.

If one thing the US killed its dad(the brits) and its now consuming its children(EU, South korea and Japan)...
Sound greek or roman to me thooo...
That's one way to look at it.

But it's not the only way. One may see it as also natural order of things, like son taking over from dad (Dad was killed by WW2 and not by US).

For rest of the countries, the behaviour is to various degrees, as expected from vassals, examples of which are throughout history.

Anyway, each to his own philosophy ;p

Also, EU green energy transition will become more expensive, on top oil and gas getting expensive due to Ukraine war. Double whammy.

Textbook American values, all for starting the fire but don’t want to face any of the inevitable consequences, never mind take any responsibility.

This is the truest expression of America’s obsession with ‘freedom’ and why it’s doomed to oppression, tyranny and redirected violence - at its heart, American culture is based on the promise that one can do whatever they want and be free from all the negative consequences of their choices. It works as intended only for the top 0.1%, everyone else is just human consumables to be used up as needed allow the top 0.1% to enjoy such privileges. When lies and police brutality can no longer keep the 99.9% in check, foreign enemies conveniently appear to force the US to unite to defeat the external enemy.

China is just the latest in a long line of such foreign enemies for the US. The biggest differences are that this time, China is no hopelessly outmatch weakling, and America has allowed the corruption to spread too far and too fast that it is but a pale shadow of its former might.

For America to start a hot war against China is akin to a replay of the Opium War, only it’s the Qing who is sending warships to attack the British in the channel.
