There are like 40 + cases of sexual harassments surfaced in Taiwan right now, against current/formal government and DPP officials, and their associates some of them dated awhile back. Since in Taiwan provincial law, sexual harassment only has statue of limitation of 9 month, a lot of the accusers couldn't press charges, so this is not money motivated either. Some people just want set things right.

Btw, regarding to miss handling all the money he raised, the rumors has been going on for years in the hanjian circle in the US.

Job center in Brussels offers porn career to unemployed

Unemployed artists and actors in the Belgian capital have started receiving questionnaires from a public employment service asking whether they are willing to star in porn movies, triggering the outrage of local MPs, local media reported last week.

The controversial question appears on the inquiry form distributed by Actiris, an employment agency based in Brussels. The sheet, in particular, asked job-seeking artists whether they want to play roles in short films, corporate movies, radio dramas, or in erotic or pornographic clips, while suggesting that they should express their feelings about those jobs by ticking off relevant emojis.

The form triggered a major public controversy, which was further fueled by the fact that the employment agency may impose penalties on those who refuse job offers.

Commenting on the matter, Actiris spokesman Romain Adam said the question was “not a proposal but a question,” insisting that the form seeks to determine what artists want to do for a living. “There is nothing wrong with that,” he stated.

However, Francoise De Smedt, who leads the left-wing Workers Party of Belgium, disagreed, describing the question as “scandalous.” “This is a public service that must help job-seekers find decent jobs,” she said. “They have no business being confronted with such questions, not to mention the embarrassment this must cause Actiris advisers.”
The form triggered a major public controversy, which was further fueled by the fact that the employment agency may impose penalties on those who refuse job offers.

So the employment agency is defending it by saying it is just a questionnaire but you wouldn’t be asking this question if you didn’t have intentions to extort people into becoming prostitutes.

I misread the article. India exported $322 billion of services in 2022 (

).

The fact that an Iranian (Vietnamese) contestant drastically increased his score in the space of a year reflects the strength of Iranian (Vietnamese) institutions. That's called hard work.

Also, wealthy countries with "stronger institutions" like the US, Germany, South Korea, and Japan do quite well in international science olympiads. India does poorly because its people are, generally speaking, of poor quality.
India export of services are growing at rate of 20%. so $400b will be ball park figure attainable in 2023.

Its not institutional strength but individuals trying to market. India does not need that marketing as it has well developed connections and this is reflected in scale of Civil Aviation aircraft orders both in India and Mideast. They know the demographics and where people are going. why does Vietnamese or Iranian born in West not go into such competitions. They should be able to outperform due to strong institutional support. France, Netherlands, Swiss, Belgium are missing from Math Olympiads and but many from Romania and Poland are in the game. Belgium research center will play key role in Europe Chips act.
Institutions are in the West but people attending those science/math competitions are majority from from the East or some one from East working in West.

I think it's the fact that Macron won his second and final election and is finally free to actually act in his country's interests, without having to worry about political attacks from US-funded "NGOs", "thinktanks", "experts", propaganda networks and opposition/protestor funding

Taipei, June 3 (CNA) A writer for the Netflix show "Wave Makers" has accused exiled Chinese poet Bei Ling (貝嶺) of sexually assaulting her when she was a student at the Chinese Culture University.

Bei Ling has denied the accusations, describing them as a "fabrication."

Writer Chien Li-ying (簡莉穎), who published an account of the alleged assault in a social media post on Friday, accused Bei Ling of groping her and placing her hand down his pants while sitting on an air bed at the poet's home when she was in her junior year at university.

2SLGBTQIABCDEF+ movement needs to urgently denounce this kind of people and stop keep adding new letters to their name. They need to be very vigilant against things like youth attracted people (read: pedophile). The LGBT movement went from a movement that was fighting for the rights of a minority to a core part of US identity politics. As a result it has fanatics and active opposers. Worse, sexual exhibitionists and pedos are using the movement to normalize their behavior, reinforcing old anti-LGBT lies that equate LGBTs with pedophiles and perverts.

Especially US LGBTs, need to depoliticize the movement and actively root out perverts. Otherwise, they will lose the things they fought hard for, which is getting accepted as normal people by society. Their rights movement getting equated with perversion and seen as an ideology by half of the society is not good for them. We already have large brands getting bullied to remove LGBT symbols, which was unthinkable 2 years ago.

I am not surprised for several reasons

1- The 052DL is an overmatch against Burke in such an encounter. It has substantial anti-shipping capacity in the form of VLS-launched YJ-18s and can defend itself with a high probability of success. Sending a 052DL means the US ship likely won't fire.

2- It is the most common destroyer of the PLAN and is also the youngest along with the 055. PLAN has far more 052D(L) class destroyers available compared to all other types in all conditions. A navy sends what's available in the region.
It is all about a fight in the mind. Naturally one would feel like deescalate seeing a bigger boat block the way.

Vietnam's power blackouts hit multinationals' manufacturing hubs

HANOI, June 5 (Reuters) - Vietnam's rolling power cuts have hit industrial parks in the country's northern provinces where top global manufacturers such as Foxconn and Samsung have factories, officials said on Monday, as a surge in consumption amid a heatwave stretched the power supply system.

The frequent and often unannounced power cuts prompted EuroCham, which represents European companies in the country, to send a letter on Monday to the industry and trade ministry urging quick measures to address the emergency.

Some industrial parks in the northern provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang have been facing blackouts, said two local investment officials, declining to be named as they were not authorised to speak to media.

"We are working with EVN later today to discuss the situation and possible measures to limit the impacts," one of the officials said, referring to the country's state utility Electricity of Vietnam.

The provinces house production facilities of Samsung Electronics

, among others.

"Vietnam's industry ministry should take urgent measures before the country's reputation as a reliable global manufacturing hub is undermined," Jean-Jacques Bouflet, deputy chairman of EuroCham Vietnam told Reuters on Monday, adding that the power cuts seriously disrupted industrial activities.

State media reports cited EVN's northern unit as saying power to Canon's factory in Bac Ninh will be cut from 8:00 am local time on Monday until 5:00am on Tuesday, adding power to at least five industrial parks and several villages in the province will be partially or fully cut for several hours during the first days of this week.

It was not immediately clear if the other companies were affected. The companies and EVN did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The blackouts threaten efforts to avert an economic slowdown due to weak demand in key export markets, after first-quarter growth slipped to 3.3% from 5.9% in the fourth quarter.

and manufacturers switching operations to off-peak hours to keep the national power system running, with more than 11,000 companies having agreed to cut consumption where possible.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai admitted at a government meeting over the weekend that there had been "power shortages for households and businesses at certain locations at certain time", adding that the difficulties would continue.

Vietnam should be like Peru and sell majority stake in their power grid to Chinese conglomerates. China can take good care of their fellow neighbor's infrastructure.

Acting more principled than I expected.

We already have large brands getting bullied to remove LGBT symbols, which was unthinkable 2 years ago.
Left wing radicalization leading to conservative backlash. It's just like what's happening with South Korea, which is practically embroiled in a gender war after the feminist movement made similar critical mistakes. Now "feminist" is a taboo word nobody wants to be associated with in SK. The current popular parties are all anti-feminist and young men vote over 70% conservatively. Young men voter turnout there is insane.
