I think many of us already discussed the tw issue many times before. It’s unlikely there is any attempt of tw takeover before a set dateline. china gov have never officially mention aby date. 2027 is often repeated by US and her vassals. So dun get sucked into their lies. We know for sure China prefers peaceful reunification and time is on their side. What US prefers is a hot war soon before the window to contain China closes. also Ukraine situation is very different from Taiwan. It’s better for Russia to have started it earlier but it’s opposite for China
Can you elaborate on why waiting is beneficial for China ?

As time passes Chinese capabilities will grow, sure, but so will enemy's military preparedness I assume.

Opinion piece from Alex Lo on SCMP about the Euroyankees furore about the statement from Lu Shaye. One of my favourite on this site full of Hanjians. Behind a paywall so here is the non paywall.

China’s questioning sovereignty of post-Soviet states is tit-for-tat over Taiwan

I would actually be ok with the ambassador's comments if he specifically mentioned that they only applied to the anti-China Eastern Europe countries. Lithuania is top on that list. Putin is more than welcome to take that country

From my point of view, if you don't support China's Taiwan position, you don't deserve to be given the "sovereign" status and all of its corresponding benefits (mainly that, in a future Chinese world order, China won't let you get invaded by others)

As for hypocrisy about China deciding who is sovereign, the strong rule in the jungle lol.

Because China's capabilities are growing faster than that of its opponents, even more so when you consider the fraction of the latter's capabilities committed to Taiwan. As long as that's the case, it is beneficial to wait because the balance of power will tip more and more in China's favor.

What makes his statement problematic is the fact that Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are not the only post-Soviet states.
