So why did Mahbubani present a list that he knew the Americans will react to it, by saying, "You can stick it where the sun don't shine!"
Two things happened in my opinion, that changed opinions.
It was the pandemic, and how the West hoarded vaccines, when at first they said they were going to give it out to the developing world.
Then came this Russia Ukraine war, where the West reacted hysterically, and demand the entire world be standing by their side on it. This is the same West that bombed the crap out of the Third World whenever it felt like it, and now there is a war in their own neighbourhood and they want moral support. It is this a sick joke?!
People are human, you know.
If the first event, the denial of vaccines when they were promised, human nature may think it was tough circumstances, and an unfortunate incident.
But then with the second incident coming so soon, and the same "me-first", and you third worlders must listen to my concerns and only my concerns - people just flat out had enough.
People now know what you really think, and that is it, they had enough.
That is the real purpose of that list.
Mahbubani has said that on some level, the developing world has rejected the West, that the old relationship cannot return.
Since we know that the Americans will reject that list, that leaves things in a tough spot.
The Americans reject that list, categorically.
1. No more demands of either for us or against us.
Uncle Sam is forcing the South Korean semiconductor to pick a side.
2. Do not be so judgemental.
Like everyday we hear about how evil Russia and China are. Toxic spills, nothing to see here!
3. Be willing to work on common goals like climate change.
There was an earthquake in Syria, and guess who did not want supplies to reach the affected areas.
As far as China is concerned, I believe they will take the attitude of, "We just keep on playing."
Because everyone loves kung fu fighting! Fast as lightning!
