Except the West will thread the needle and say that Taiwan is "already an independent state" and that it was "never a part of the PRC." That's been their mode of operation for a while. They see no contradiction between saying that Ukraine's territorial integrity should be protected & that Taiwan should be independent.

That's impossible. The west and th UN already recognized Taiwan as part of china.
Logic doesn't matter. In their propagandized public that is exactly what they're saying and that's exactly what they believe.
But the opinion of the rest of the world matters as well. If the west imposes sanctions on China, they'll be simply isolating themselves since everyone else will have a valid excuse to not follow them.
Americans are extremely good at building alternative realities. Think about it. Every single meme about China is a lie. Fake Uyghur genocide, fake banned Winnie the Pooh, fake lab leak, fake social credit system, fake collapsing economy...
Biden doesn't ask Zelensky for permission to enter Kiev, he asks Putin. Even he knows that Kiev is a Russian city...
It was a weak move anyhow, a real leader would have just gone in and dared the Russians to attack him.
That would cause enough instant economical pressure on US that they would need to go open war in order to remotely justify it. There are better ways for US to go into war footing than over a relative nothing burger like Ukraine, which the population don't want to suffer for.
What US does would depend on how much China sends. China is already giving dual use equipment including engines for suicide drones, electronics for every type of missile, radars etc as well as NVGs, bulletproof vests etc. All of this crosses America's "red line" but without UN support or National Congress support, such red lines have no meaning to China.
Obviously if China just went all in and started sending their own drones with their operators and artillery troops into Ukraine, US would be pressed into doing something drastic in return. But short of sudden, unjustified, dramatic Chinese escalation, Washington cannot do anything except more complaints.
The sick part is that almost everything that the USA accuses Russia of is exactly what they have done to many nations around the world for the past couple of decades since the fall of the USSR and thus really the immense lack of self reflection is certain to make the USA ripe for another Ohio to come about. I mean Biden, if his intent is to play God and try to make the world see the USA as some sort of Alliance vs Horde bull crap with the USA fighting a righteous war against the Russian ‘Orcs’, this is surely not going to end well. If another disaster ends up happening, I think we can be certain that whether through human stupidity, hubris or heavenly decree, that basically Biden might end up passing from this mortal coil as the president that lead the USA to ruin, I mean Russia has suspended the new start treaty as of now and is now in war mode, should the USA really be pushing Russia to use their nuke first, it’s like they want Independence Day on the White House, only with hypersonic nukes instead of mega laser, one of these two will leave a radioactive crater and Russia has plenty of these. Is the US really that retarded…. Sigh I might has answered my own question
