Yeah but facebook, snapchat, whatsapp never got banned

This is what telegram CEO says about whatsapp:

Hackers could have full access (!) to everything on the phones of WhatsApp users.

This was possible through a security issue disclosed by WhatsApp itself last week. All a hacker had to do to control your phone was send you a malicious video or start a video call with you on WhatsApp.

You are probably thinking "Yeah, but if I updated WhatsApp to the latest version, I am safe, right"?

Not really.

A WhatsApp security issue exactly like this one was discovered in 2018, then another in 2019 and yet another one in 2020 (tap each year's link to see the corresponding vulnerability). And yes, in 2017 before that. Prior to 2016, WhatsApp didn't have encryption at all.

Every year, we learn about some issue in WhatsApp that puts everything on their users' devices at risk. Which means it's almost certain that a new security flaw already exists there. Such issues are hardly incidental – they are planted backdoors. If one backdoor is discovered and has to be removed, another one is added (read the post "Why WhatsApp will never be secure" to understand why).

It doesn't matter if you are the richest person on earth – if you have WhatsApp installed on your phone, all your data from every app on your device is accessible, as Jeff Bezos found out in 2020. That's why I deleted WhatsApp from my devices years ago. Having it installed creates a door to get into your phone.

I'm not pushing people to switch to Telegram here. With 700M+ active users and 2M+ daily signups, Telegram doesn't need additional promotion. You can use any messaging app you like, but do stay away from WhatsApp – it has now been a surveillance tool for 13 years.
How about signal or wickr me

The nuke issue is like the balloon. Just dig a hole in the ground and the West and their allies go ape-shit.

Big enough for a one ton bomb? Self-Destruct failed? The Sidewinder would've done the job alone plus set it off. Not to mention it would be an act of war. Oh yes this is China's failed attempt at their own Pearl Harbor. One bomb on a balloon that it reached the other of the US that the Chinese forgot to set-it-off. What critical damage where the US would be crippled in a reprisal that one balloon bomb can do? Yes this incident is embarrassing for the US because of their overreaction so they have to come up with grand conspiracy theories to distract from it.

That's what's wracking their brains over this balloon. Their enemies are geniuses when they're evil but have to be intellectually inferior. The Chinese using a balloon proves it either way.

I have to say if this was some Sun Tzusian psychological warfare, it worked.

Germany also has a lot of Turkish people living there. Bizarre behaviour
That makes it even more bizarre
Forget about the security aspect of Telegram, the best thing about Telegram are the features it like what WhatsApp will be 5 years from now. Really don't understand why Europeans are still so hard to get of WhatsApp.

It is political, the point is "shooting civilian object". What ever response from US will set the new ground of how the two will deal with each other in the future. China wants US to reply loud and clear, whatever that is, in front of the world.

US says it does not plan to return spy balloon debris to China

Technical experts have finished analysing surveillance capabilities of craft shot down on Saturday
The US has said it does not plan to return the debris from the Chinese spy balloon shot down by the Pentagon on Saturday to Beijing, even after technical experts have finished analysing the surveillance capabilities that were on board the craft.
“In fact, that’s why we did it [shot down the balloon] about six miles off the coast, inside our territorial airspace, so that we could comply with international law,” Kirby said
National security adviser Jake Sullivan said the US would “exploit” any parts of the balloon or payload that are salvaged to learn more about the system. He added that the military had advised that it be shot down over water to “create a greater possibility that we could effectively exploit the wreckage than if it were shot down over land”.
The balloon episode has derailed the two countries’ efforts to set “a floor” under the turbulent relationship — something that US president Joe Biden and China’s Xi Jinping agreed was needed when they met in Bali in November.

And some humour:
“Nobody wants to see conflict here,” Kirby said, adding that US secretary of state Antony Blinken had only “postponed” his planned trip to China, despite telling Beijing on Friday he was cancelling the visit in light of the discovery of the balloon in US airspace.

Breaking Point, which is the only show i usually watch for reasonable opinions from the US front, believes it's a spy balloon but its not as big as a deal as it should be because everyone is doing it. IMO Mainstream(4th branch of gov) news and politics is just fanning conflict for fun and profit.

If you like Breaking Points, you would like Kyle Kulinski show too on YouTube. Kyle actually is banging Krystal Ball from Breaking Points, and regularly subs in for Saagar. Anyways, he is a lefty that has a sane take on foreign policy (highly influenced by Chomsky and anti-US imperialism) and good political takes. Also, Saagar can suck my nuts.

Well they got so many fancy peerage and positions /s
I think only Astute class subs that amade RN potent.
Subs designed and manufactured by the UK but the missiles are imported from the US. Can't even manufacture our own damn nuclear SLBMs. We really are a meme country, maybe not as over the edge as India perhaps, but pretty much a meme country nonetheless.

Because this event have become a global one so not just Colombia, Venezuela and China anymore. By working with these two countries China can show all countries and people of the world how these issues/misunderstand can be resolved peaceful and not through military means.
This balloon incident becomes a global issue because the US and MSM make it so. So every time the US went full retard, China needs to bend forward to explain to the world. More importantly, both Colombia and Venezuela seem this as none issue. Venezuela even condemns the US shooting down the balloon as an act of aggression. What you suggest isn't for world peace but rather a form of inferiority complex that China needs to accept by the world and rationality and logic trumped bias and hidden agenda.

That's simply China suck donkeys on PR. However, that doesn't mean China should stop trying or caring. China needs to do better.
US as the world sole superpower and with its NATO, 5 eyes and other allies has dominated the world media and controlled the narrative. If there were any question of good PR would make a difference, what happened to Russia has proven that the US and its allies are capable of shutting down any different voices. MSM can paint white as black and black as white. China shouldn't waste its time with the West.
That is why China should work with Colombia and Venezuela on this issue even if they declared the balloon is no threat. The messages their cooperation will be open and clear to all other nations and their citizens.
I just don't understand your POV. Both Colombia and Venezuela already said that they don't believe the balloon is any threat to them. They don't care. It is insanely stupid to try to shoot down one's own commercial balloon for nothing.

PR is important and that is why big global corporations and governments spend so much money and energy on it.
PR is only useful if it made a difference. PR is useless when it won't change a thing. US and the West's PR might have helped them to produce a bunches of wannabes and color revolutions but at the same time such PR is destroying the US and the West. All these manufactured extreme climate change, environment, LGBT, humanitarian refugees, human rights and woke capitalism have crushed their societies and caused infighting but they have no way out because their PR is too good that their own people become enslaved with such beliefs.
