European values and international rule of law. Ukrainian do this to alleged "looters" and "thieves" though they hardly ever provide evidence.

US get away with it because it never annex territory. It US annex a failed state it will hit them harder than China due to election system. It's all a question of where a country stands in terms of realpolitik and morality
The moral thing to do would be to not make taiwanese lives harder since they're all considered chinese, instead pursue win win cooperation and hope they repay mainland efforts.
The realpolitik thing to do would be to get taiwan hooked up on drugs, crime and destroy their economy so that they will be unable to resist mainland rule
An immoral political system like the US would choose the latter for sure. But for China it's not so clear cut
US was given birth to & exists on annexed territory, without taking Guam, Hawaii,Texas into accountUS get away with it because it never annex territory. It US annex a failed state it will hit them harder than China due to election system.
The acceptance of "Taiwanese" identity is root cause of them all. Let this go on, & you will have another set of "free people" setting up another fantasy land on Chinese territory with their free fat butt, just like native america. It's all a question of where a country stands in terms of realpolitik and morality

Why would anyone think that tit for tat would be the best response? From my amateur point of view the retaliation is quite simple. Arrange a meeting between Xi and a Saudi head of state on December 24th so they could sign an agreement for trading oil in RMB.
