it will be painful for Saudis to replace all US made fighter jets but if ever decoupling happen, China would love to supply J-16 and FC-31.
I think there is an agreement floating around between China and Russia that prohibits China from its exporting flankers because of prior tech transfers. In any case J-16 is easily the most advanced flanker variant in the world and is too high tech for China to export. They would have to specifically create a gimped version of it for export.

China purchased SU-27 produce in mainland as J-11 under license agreement with Russia and made promise, they will never sale this aircraft to any foreign customer. that's it

J-16 and J-15 these two flankers have nothing to do with Russian permission. China derived J-16 from J-11.

but yeah agreed with your second point. but China can sale J-16 with inferior avionics. another point, prize is too damn high for China to ignore. Saudi in China's camp is a huge victory.

Why would they even go for a 4th gen aircraft? They already got loads of them.

Saudi Arabia has the money and I am sure it is willing to splash all that for a 5th gen aircraft with possibly domestic production/assembly/ limited ToT/becoming a regional hub
