all China needs to do is focus on Germany, Italy and Netherlands, and maybe Austria
Germany will get Greens on power soon which is part of the US foreign arm. I guess that A.Blinken is already having wet dreams about them getting in power soon

Italy just got a parachuted Prime Minister staright out from the EU institutions who has already started his anti-China delusions

Netherlands just had their Parliament officially falling out China that it is committing "genocide" (Also lets not forget that they have ASML, which their OWN GOV has banned it from selling some products to China)

In your credit, I haven't heard anything about Austria going against China, but with Germany applying pressure in the near future, expect that Austria will start its own anti-China policies soon

Has anyone heard of a connection between the Falun Gong and Guo? I haven't read anything of the sort but that would be boring stuff to an American journalist to write about. But reading this article maybe there's no connection because Guo and the cult leader of the Falun Gong both seem to want to be undemocratically installed as leader of China so naturally they would be opposing figures. No one should be surprised when you can look at Hong Kong where they was no one leader because it wasn't about democracy. Every faction had their own agenda that had nothing to with democracy hence why they couldn't pick a single leader. No one should be surprised to see Triad organized crime like tactics especially intimidation gangster tactics like San Francisco's Chinatown saw in the 70s and 80s where organized crime was supported by Taiwan.
I have heard nothing concrete, and you are right to say that American media has no interesting in exposing a link. However, doing a cursory analysis, we can see that Guo/Bannon/New Federal State of China has adopted many of the exact same tactics as FLG and extremely similar messaging as well.

You can see similarities in their tactics, professionally printed banners and T-Shirts. This is almost a hallmark of FLG organization:

This is a significant difference from what you see from typical protests where signs are usually hand made (recent Palestine protests):

Also note that both FLG and Guo/Bannon are focused on the idea "CCP must be destroyed" specifically rather than "China must be stopped", whereas the average western media usually doesn't bother separating the two, or just says CCP has made itself inseparable from the country.

There are also similarities in language, constantly emphasizing their "peacefulness":
peaceful “citizens” of the “New Federal State of China”
vs.
FLG
“Most people have a misunderstanding that this is a provocative protest. It is very peaceful,”

Both organizations are also heavily investing into Media platforms, Epoch Times/NTD vs. G-Media/GTV.

Merchandising, consistency in messaging, platform-building... All of this adds up to an extremely high level of organization by both sides. What is harder to tell is what is behind the curtain.

We can surmise that both groups are likely trying to attract the same groups of people. Probably marginalized in China, thus seeking greater purpose. This is often the attraction of religion. The marginalization breeds contempt. Similar to other radicalization routes.

So to me there are 2 basic scenarios:
1. Guo is basically leading a splinter group and now they are waging a public battle to win mindshare and followers

or the more conspiratorial angle:
2. Guo's group is secretly controlled by CCP and trying to undermine FLG and other 'dissidents' by bleeding followers and intimidation tactics

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday called for a U.S. diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, criticizing China for human rights abuses and saying that global leaders who attend would lose their moral authority.
"Let's not honor the Chinese government by having heads of state go to China," Pelosi said.
"For heads of state to go to China in light of a genocide that is ongoing - while you're sitting there in your seat - really begs the question, what moral authority do you have to speak again about human rights any place in the world?" she said.

I'm leaning to Number #2.

Reichsfuhrer Bannon (Waffen SS Division Cirrhosis) might hate the CCP, but he would gladly take Chinese aid if he thought that it somehow could install his beloved Fourth Reich in America.

I have just about had it with these "European mother of something" that loves to virtue signal about their love of human rights and care for the "African poors" but are actually useless in terms of providing real economic assistance that can benefit these African countries so that the migrant issues would be stemmed or subside. These same f..ng useless European monkeys instead of competing with China with her effort in providing real "economic aid" by helping African countries improve their infrastructures (railways, telecommunications, electricity) they accuse China of "debt trap" diplomacy.

Western countries, whether they are from North America or western Europe should really just shut the f..ng hell up or get out of the way if their modus operandi is to simply whine and make outlandish accusations against a country that has provided concrete and measurable help to African countries in short amount of time compared to the legacies of exploitative policies, colonialism, slavery, along with their social and economic malfeasance by inserting their f..cked up values into these countries.
