The chart is misleading because it compares China's capacity of renewable energy with China's total energy generation. The appropriate metric is to compare it with the generation of electricity. This is a misconception we see very often. The following tells you why it's wrong.

Countries still use a lot of not-electricity for industry, transportation, building heating and cooling, etc, and for that, they use fossil fuels. The substitution method shows you how many fossil fuels are used for those applications in TWh terms, but makes no judgment about whether we actually would or could use electricity instead.

Indeed, for many of those things, there simply does not yet exist an cost-effective electrified subsitute, so it would be impossible for renewables to perform that work (in any country).

My friend, I'm an old man and I've heard a lot of conspiracy theories in my life. The worst part is that quite a few of them are starting to come true. Unfortunately, even the worst and most terrible of them. But I don't want to discuss them here, that really doesn't belong here.

It wasn't nearly as complete when I last visited in 2017. Most subway stations still had rolling shutters back then. Now, every single one I've seen has gone Vault-Tec.

Like. I said, we still live in a western dominated world where their narrative runs supreme. Most of Chinese accomplishments we know here aren't even known outside this forum because most people arent paying attention and mainstream media isn't gonna report it either. The western mind cannot fathom the concept that the act of consumption is measured by product/services received, not profit the supplier gained. Under their model in a world of abundance consumption will approach zero.

I have a solution: sanction the panel and sponsors of the Nobel prize by denying them access to Chinese rejuvenation technology and bone glue technology amongst other Chinese medical and chemical breakthroughs. Perhaps they should try dynamite and their Nobel prize in economics to cure their own cancers when or if they arise.
if I wanted to be particularly exacting, I’d extend this sanction to their 9 familial relationship like an extension of the 9 familial executions.

Yeah I noticed it too back at the start of 2024 when I last went back.

I even pointed it out to my wife and her buddy from high school days that the parking lot is a nuclear war shelter. They also realized it's a new development in recent years and asked why it was necessary for China now and I said to them "Do you want to be a superpower or not? This is the price of admission".
