There are nationalists everywhere. The difference is that in China, the CPC reins them in. Whereas in the West those nationalists are effectively encouraged by their government to pillage and plunder.
I've been saying for decades that the worst thing that could happen is for China to become a democracy and for the Chinese chauvinists to gain a measure of power. That China might actually do some of the things that the West is constantly fearmongering about.
India is indeed keeping a low profile if you ignore all the bullshit instagram reels and Facebook comments and what not. They are also learning a great deal from China in this regard. In the same manner if I were to read some comments here, I would get the impression that China is a hot tempered irrational country but the comments here are not a represenative of actual Chinese policy.
I suggest you to pay attention to actual politics instead of what the average joe in every country has say on the internet.
Wait, which India are you talking about? Is it the India that declared a ten day celebration
after they lost a war? And which then sent delegations to countries all over the world to praise themselves? Or is it the India which somehow managed to alienate every country in South Asia? Including Bhutan - how the hell do you even manage to alienate Bhutan? Or is it the India that somehow managed to be the sole dissenting voice for joint declarations from BRICS and SCO? Or is it some
other India out there that's trying to keep a low profile? It's sort of hard to keep track of all these Indias, please help me out.
I honestly don't understand why there are still scholars in China that likes to worship the west saying western culture is great for China when it's not (The city today has no french influence). The scholar said that the french built a hospital in 1922 but conviently forgets that this was the bare minimum from french and not a charitable action. It dosen't take a genius to conclude that the Western World are the biggest grifters on the planet because they never practice what they preach (ehem free trade my ass and demand assimilation when you force your values on others in their country). The west literally ruined Chinese society by flooding drugs into it and they tried to replace the culture with western one by brainwashing the "scholars" at the time. I honestly wished Xi Jinping would have more power than he does now so that his cultural confidence could actually be a reality.
I suspect that a lot of these people had their formative years in the '80s and '90s when the West was doing infinitely better than China. It'd be easy to think back then that the West had to be doing something right and China doing something wrong to be where they were. It's the same thing as the end of the Qing dynasty where all the reformers saw the West as the thing to emulate. Sure it doesn't take into account China's progress since then, but opinions solidify is most certainly a thing, and the China's rise has simply been too fast for a lot of people to keep up with.
