Those rare earths should have been part of this negotiation to deter the yankees.
This TikTok deal business, if I am not wrong the Chinese side neither the gov or bytedance have ever confirmed the sell.
All information has come from Trump and Trump alone, the articles at least the few I bothered to read are nothing but speculations or simply parroting what Trump or US admin has said.
I don’t understand, for all intents and purpose Trump just sign an executive order that basically stated the requirements in order for TikTok to continue operating in the US, in fact its basically the same as the one signed in Jan 2025 but with the addition of more specific terms regarding the ‘framework deal’ where a transaction is necessary to a new company in the form of a JV, that’s basically it.
It doesn’t say that a transaction has happen, the situation hasn’t changed at all. So I am just confused, when Trump says the deal is done. Well, no it’s not, nothing happened, it’s literally just Trump saying it’s done.

Rare earth shouldn't be part of any negotiations because there wasn't anything to negotiate.
TikTok algorithm is export controlled and Chinese law must be obeyed, that's the end.

Anything under a paywall in my rule of thumb is bias bullshit at best and completely and utter lies at worst. In other words, if this truth is so compelling, why hide that stuff under an expensive paywall because if they wanted to get this point across, it would have been provided for free and with lots of evidence backing it up, not from sources from the FLG. The Tiktok deal is very complex and has one of those very complicated ownership structures you see in a megadeal. Given how Trump's team are PE/VC people, it only makes sense they are doing what they previously did before they entered the government. Maybe this is the reason Trump and his team are so obsessed with the deal since it makes them feel like they are young again doing their real profession in business.
That said, China also does a lot PE/VC deals too. Its fully aware of how these things work since it does it a lot too. The average layman is not gonna be able to properly interpret how it will end up.
