My understanding is that the TikTok deal only applies to the United States (TikTok US) and does not affect the rest of the world.
If that’s the case, then I think the deal is fine as long as ByteDance retains control of TikTok globally.

This "intellectual property licensing" is a rather vague concept, and I'm unsure whether it could lead to technology leaks.

I just realised the TikTok deal is only valued at 14 billion. WTF, this is absolutely fking insane, who the fuck negotiated this on our side??? Qing officials??? This is fking bonkers, even americans don't believe it. I am beyond pissed.

TikTok is a global business, this is just the value of US portion of their operation without access to algorithm, it should give you a hint just how much US market matters in world with 8 billion people and how valuable the algorithm is. .

The algorithm engine is TikTok because the algorithm controls content which makes the algorithm the content itself, everything else is superficial, you can reskin it to YouTube shorts for anyone care. This is Americans wants to pay BD >$10B for just the right to run the engine.
