So now that it's been a day since the shooting, how do you guys view it?

Will it actually result in political change? My opinion when it first happened was that it wouldn't, because he wasn't that popular and wasn't that likeable. And Trump has refrained from calling for action.

Bro, his popularity is incredibly high. Charlie Kirk's related videos have significantly boosted Trump's campaign, and he is almost certain to be elected as a senator from Arizona.
I believe this will greatly exacerbate the left-right divide in the United States, potentially pushing the country back to an era reminiscent of the Gilded Age and the Civil Rights Movement, where political assassinations were rampant.

Honestly, I doubt anything will happen. A few months ago the speaker of the Minnesota House of Representative was killed and a senator was shot by a deranged MAGA supporter and it was made light of by the same people now demanding respect for Kirk and nothing happened beyond that.

The main difference here is the level of gore associated with the event and the public visibility of it all.

I now think of the society I came from and the war to which I went as part of the same grotesque amusement-park ride. If I have discovered anything since my homecoming, it is that my home has lost its peaceful veneer. An American who leaves for war never leaves America. The war is the society and the society is the war, and one who sees that war sees America. --

Kirk has always been a top-down operation. His visibility before short-form video formats like TikTok and YouTube shorts was arguably less than that of someone like Steven Crowder, who did the same thing. He was against trump back in 2015, like his republican donors, but switched when they had to back him after he won the nominations. He was always an instrument of the donor class with few organic audience of his own other than christcuck college students. He had only limited appeal to the other 2 major right-youth classes, economically disaffect white male (Rogan types) and Techbros (Big Balls)

The establishment will likely use his death to target political opponents. But for his "movement" its irrelevant, he was in decline and was being outflanked by the Catboy/Groypers and right wing aestheticists like tradcaths and cottagecore/tradwife near the end.

I think in the coming days you will see a contradictory presentation of Kirk. Right-wing establishment and influencer class will lionize him and mention his legions of youth followers. His actual fans are a small number of college christians who don't have the numbers or influence on social media. Video will mention his influence over the youth, comments will be said youth with memes making fun of his death.
