It's honestly pretty embarassing he got as far as he did. He was clearly untrained and thought that the Viets would be too mellow to stop him, with tech that was too poor to track him. He was right, unfortunately, on the first count. From the very beginning where he completely failed to knock out the guard with a barrage of head strikes using a weapon but moved on to the robbery anyway (and to be fair, the guard acted equally incompetently after getting up) it was clear that all it would take to stop this guy was one dude tackling or holding onto him, but it didn't happen. He got away until they tracked him by video.

Not sure what he is thinking... If he's broke and want to get back to the US, he coulda just went to the US embassy and apply for repatriation loan.

The police in Vietnam and also China don't experience the kind of violent crime that happens in the US and the West. So they're not mentally in a state of war 24/7. This guy obviously thought he'd be a wolf among sheep. Luckily China has a reputation of violating people's human rights or else you would see plenty of Western streamers like Johnny Somali doing their thing in China.

What Trump is doing with tariffs... what Europe has been doing fining international companies for violating their regulatory rules is essentially they want the world to pay them tribute. There are so many reasons why the US would love to takeover China aside from robbing and enslaving the Chinese. What else do they want? They need a playground to play in so they can carry out their hearts desires. This where their self-anointed veneer of civility and belief in rule of law disappears and the monster inside of them takes over. It's the kind of stuff where they would allow to happen but they're going do everything they can to hide it.

Indians have been colonized outward and inward by West/whites.Chinese wearing modern clothes is simply a sign of modernity not colonization unless one wants it to be.And I for one will not be wearing a Manchu /Qing era braid just because that dynasty lasted 268 years.Hanfu is beautiful but not practical for modern life and ironically some Chinese wearing Hanfu were criticized for wearing a Japanese kimono!!Certainly some aspects of our long, rich culture can be revived/modernized but many should be discarded(foot-binding etc) as we grow more affluent and survival/rice bowl is not so dire-but no decadence. As for women -the qipao/cheongsam with stockings /heels is simply beautiful and sexy.

Hanfu has become a big thing in China.

Check out these videos, the second one just a travel bloger and he walks right into the photoshot in the first couple of minutes.

Basically the West/USA hates us Chinese not because we are a failure but that we are a success -economically,politically and militarily so that their beloved "regime change for the suffering people and to bring them democracy" hateful, patronizing, murderous, rapacious bullshit will not ever work and China can outwork, out think, outfight them if need be.All China has to do is arm/armour itself and increase her upward trajectory in all spheres and the west will devour itself

Fuck 'em.

That is all I can say, because that is the only appropriate response I can think of.

Note that obviously if we were a diplomat, they that person is trained to say something else.

The idea is still the same.

They will just claim the hanfu is westernized stuff and not traditional or something.

Actually truth be told, a lot of "traditional" stuff we have today in reality are modern stuff with foreign influence. For example with India, Hindi and Hinduism are basically Brits reorganizing stuff they found from India. The form that is practiced today isn't what it was back then.

For things to be truly traditional means little to no change with no exposure to the outside world. This just isn't gonna happen with big countries that are exposed to outside ideas.

Traditions and traditional stuff are not entitled to be unconditionally around without passing the test of time. Only those that demonstrate being worth kept remain. Footbinding which isn't even that old coming from Song dynasty is a prime example of something that outlasted it's welcome.
