iinm, the US carved Panama out of Colombia in order to control the Panama Canal, kinda similar to how UK carved Diego Garcia out of Mauritius for a military base, or how UK cut Israel out of Palestine.
After separating, the Frenchman, who was leading the Panama rebellion, gave control of the land around the canal to US for 85 years which ended in 1988.
The US sees the canal (and probably Panama itself) as it's own invention.

Israeli tourists confront pro-Palestinian protestors in Japan. The woman yelling at a Japanese protestor that he's a murderer. Probably would carry a little more weight if they didn't act and think they were the only "real" victims of WWII. And Israeli newspapers are calling for an alliance with Far East Asian countries including Japan and without China because they feel the US is becoming an antagonist these days? They're never going to get Asians to think giving money to Israel is their duty unlike in the US. What else are they at minimum expecting? Asian militaries defending Israel? And somehow they think Israel would be the leading nation in this bunch...?
