Not at the cost of strengthening the US. If we can weaken India for free, then sure. But at the cost of helping the US vassalize India, then a stronger and independent India is preferred. The stronger American vassals are and the weaker America is, the harder they become for America to control and drain into itself; that is a common power dynamic between vassals and lords.
So don't kick countries into America's jaws where it can turn them into vassals, obviously. When America suppresses them, we boost them. That is how America loses vassals... now, today. Will they come back to cooperate with the US in the future? Maybe, but with a stronger vassal state and weaker lord state, the dynamic will favor the vassal so the American lord cannot get as many concessions.
