China, India agree to keep working on improving ties in high-level meeting

New Delhi’s national security adviser Ajit Doval is in Beijing as Indian pilgrimages resume to sacred sites in Tibet
Wang said there had been some progress in bilateral relations and it was essential for both sides to further improve communication, build mutual trust, and work towards resolving practical issues, according to a Chinese foreign ministry statement. He called on both sides to stick to the consensus that they were “each other’s development opportunities, not threats” and “partners, not rivals” to achieve a win-win outcome.

Senior CPC official visits Britain
Yuan Jiajun, a senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official, led a party delegation to visit Britain on Sunday and Monday at the invitation of the British government.

Yuan, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, met with British National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell, attended a roundtable meeting between leading Chinese (Chongqing) and British enterprises, and held talks with Nicholas Lyons, lord mayor of the City of London, and Sherard Cowper-Coles, chair of the China-Britain Business Council, among others.

Yuan said that under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, China-Britain relations are developing with a good momentum.

China is ready to work with Britain to uphold the positioning of the two countries as strategic partners, further strengthen dialogue and cooperation, enhance strategic communication, deepen political mutual trust, jointly meet challenges, and continuously expand practical cooperation in economy and trade, science and technology, people-to-people exchanges, local affairs and other fields, to jointly promote a stable and mutually beneficial China-Britain relationship, Yuan said.

Chongqing is willing to leverage its strengths in industrial foundation, its role as a comprehensive hub and its status as a mega-city to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Britain in areas such as intelligent manufacturing, trade and logistics, financial services and urban governance, contributing local strength to further advancing China-Britain relations, Yuan said.

The British side said that the Britain-China relationship is of strategic significance and the cooperation between the two sides is conducive to world peace and development. The British side stands ready to enhance exchanges with China, deepen cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, science and technology, investment, education, and jointly safeguard multilateralism and the free trade system.

During the visit, Yuan also met with executives from Jardine Matheson and other business representatives.

During the meeting, he elaborated on China's high-quality development and reform measures, and highlighted new opportunities brought by deepening reforms and high-level opening-up.

He also paid visits to the City of London, Battersea Power Station and Canary Wharf.

Air India crew members, 5 passengers take ill mid-air on London to Mumbai flight
Five passengers on board an Air India flight from London to Mumbai fell ill on Monday with symptoms of food poisoning.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. An airline official familiar with the matter, on condition of anonymity, said the passengers and crew fell sick due to slow decompression, or a gradual decrease in cabin pressure.

“A few of them were taken to the medical room (at Mumbai’s Terminal 2 ) on wheelchairs,” an airport official, also on condition of anonymity, added.

The pilots were not affected by the sickness that gripped multiple passengers. The source said that pilots get their meals after the passengers have been served.

I get him. He's just so tired of it all. He's got so many issues everywhere and he has to deal with another desert war

The middle east has to be the most annoying region in the world to manage. I dunno what makes millions want to die in a desert over there all the time but that place since the start of civilization almost always had people killing each other non stop.

Middle East was very peaceful during the reign of the ottoman empire for around 400 years. That's a long time of peace. Once you have too much peace, you get a century or two of chaos and fragmentation. Every region goes through this.

When there is a dominant power, there will be peace.

I guess it was peaceful if you consider anything east of Turkey not part of the middle east.

That way you can ignore Iran and all it's fights esp with Turkey when they were empires. I'm not even including all the later rebellions.
