Chinese contractor may have a hand with the abysmal quality work on that collapse building.
Guys it's obvious the failure occurred due to the buckling of these slender columns with a high clear height/slenderness ratio, which led to increased bending moments and ultimately caused the collapse. Engineer probably modelled these columns as shear walls in ETABS, a common error these days. So it's not right to blame contractor or company only the Engineer is responsible for this mess.

Just an opinion from an Er

Best not to make any assumptions about that. They have developed weapons specifically for that purpose.
LOL How many assumptions did you make when you compared PRC vs ROC against US vs Iran?

Taiwan has developed poor weapons to look like they're not lying down flat while their military is basically not a professional fighting force with air force marshalls unable to differentiate J-20 from J-35, female soldiers acting as prostitutes, and training clips that are uploaded to Youtube for laughs. They're currently getting circled in Chinese exercises everyday and they're so used to it, they don't bother to (nor can they afford to) scramble anymore. All the weapons they buy aren't meant to be used but are actually protection fee payments to a US that is tariffing them in return cus fuck 'em, that's why.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth visited the Philippines on Friday, where he reaffirmed Washington's ironclad commitment to a defense treaty between the two countries.

Hegseth vows to help deter ‘China’s aggression’ in Philippines
  • Summary
  • President Trump a peacemaker, Hegseth says
  • U.S. to provide anti-ship missiles, drones
  • Philippines, U.S. stress need to build threat deterrence
  • Special forces training planned for islands near Taiwan
MANILA, March 28 (Reuters) - U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reaffirmed Washington's "ironclad" commitment to a defence treaty with the Philippines on Friday and pledged to deploy advanced capabilities to its partner to strengthen a deterrence against threats, including Chinese "aggression".
Hegseth met his counterpart Gilberto Teodoro and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, and they signalled continued strong cooperation amid growing threats from China, emphasising a shared commitment to peace in the Indo-Pacific region and in the South China Sea, where Manila accuses Beijing of repeated hostile actions.

"Deterrence is necessary around the world, but specifically in this region, in your country, considering the threats from the communist Chinese," Hegseth said.
He also said the United States was not seeking war and described President Donald Trump as a peacemaker.
"President Trump seeks peace ... but in order to bring that peace, we will be strong," he told a press conference with Teodoro.
"Our allies will know we stand with them. Our admirals are prepared, and they will be properly equipped," he said. "We're rebuilding our military under President Trump."

In order to do that you need to pay an extra Tariff , not that large compare to other country cause you're special....lol a 17% will do.

Any Taiwan assets that is even vaguely threatening has got multiple ISRs staring at them 24/7. Wanna take a guess at their average lifespan once things kick off?

However the disparity between China and Taiwan is smaller than that between the US and Iran (at least in military terms). The former was never my argument.

On the one hand it is at best 2 to 3 CBG + nearby air base against Iran, a much bigger country with a lot more firepower and manpower.

On the other hand it is entire mainland China's unit within cross strait firing range, this includes all air/sea/rocket force/land based fire + their corresponding ISR versus Taiwan.

Do you want to revise your statement?

@BlackWindMnt and you know what bro? this economic adviser say it's good for us, what the FXXK did this guy eat for breakfast.

Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Secretary Frederick Go on Thursday brushed off the impact of US President Donald Trump's imposition of 17% tariff on Philippine goods entering America, seeing it as a boon rather than a bane for the country's economic future.

"External forces attack China's critical network infrastructure during 9th Asian Winter Games: report

A recent report released by the National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center on Thursday revealed that during the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin in February, external forces attempted to disrupt and interfere with the event through cyberattacks. These attacks even targeted critical network infrastructure in an attempt to create chaos and steal sensitive intelligence. According to monitoring data, 63.24 percent of the traced attacks originated from the US.

According to the "Cyber Threat Report of the 9th Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025" released by National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center and National Engineering Laboratory for Computer Virus Prevention Technology, during the Winter Games, the information systems of competition and the critical network infrastructures in Heilongjiang Province were targeted by numerous cyberattacks from abroad, with most originating from the US, the Netherlands, and other countries and regions. Trump's trade war will be a massive win for China probably. Just look at how the Trump regime calculated and imposed the tariffs.
