Every time the Jai Hinds laugh about Chinese "Tofu" construction, perhaps we can remind them about "Bihar" construction. At least Tofu construction doesn't collapse 13 bridges in 3 weeks.

I remembered Jaishankar boasting in the last SCO meeting about the Global South looking up to India for infrastructure development. LOL! Build safe bridges for your own people first, before you build for others. Besides, what happened to those "100 million toilets" that you've built under "Swachh Bharat"? It seemed like Indian open defecation rates hasn't gone down at all.

The US lack a complete supply chain and less a one closer to the factory but i think is also a mobility issue like the lack of HSR to move goods fast between cities.

Regulations are not streamlined and there are too many, a company has to deal with too many bureaucrats because of that subcontracting work is usually too expensive because reduce the quantity of people qualified to do certain job to a few people.

Very difficult to get qualified workers right away increasing training cost, there is a lack of trading schools for factory jobs, young people prefer the service sector and the smartest go to finance or silicon valley.​

You overstated Europe's importance. Europe is very important but far from being the only purpose of BRI, not even a crucial purpose. Arab countries, Iran and central Asian countries combined is a huge potential that can match Europe. Many these countries can't even be reached by sea port without extensive road links.

Even for goods going to Europe, sea lane is only cheaper if the product is produce in coatal region close to a sea port. A product produce in western China will need travel eastwards for more than 2000km to reach a port, then travel 5000km through sea to return to alsmost the same point then another 7000km to reach European port. While going over land takes just 5000km and takes much less time that will beat whatever advantage sea travel has.

And I am not even talking about how rediculous for goods to go half of the globe from Xinjiang to Arab countries by sea.

Once again, BRI is not to serve Europeans or Americans (US) but to serve the world especially China's inland development. It is an evolution of "Western development" program (西部大开发), a decades long program.
