According to times of india, China divulged little during the meeting, the US learned nothing new out of it, no follow up meeting either lol

FYI the news source is from reuters, Times of India is just reprinting it. Indian news wouldn't know anything about closed door meetings between China and US.

Pardon my cynicism but how exactly do people think that this Great Powers struggle can be resolved peacefully when all evidence points towards the contrary? The US is ruled by a cabal of psychos.

A couple of reasons, to say the least.

1. Most empires collapse within. What exactly is the condition of America at the moment? They are broke. We see how this plays out. Historically, the same thing happens over and over again. That is what I am worried about. Not some war. This is the position of the CCP too, I believe. When they talk about America's decline, that is what the CCP is talking about.

2. There must be something to fight over. They were fighting over something, such as trade flows, and Huawei 5G, and sensitive technology in general. How are those fights going for America? Notice they do not harp on the phones anymore. There is not much further for this particular fight to continue on.

In the end, there are really two important points. There is no end game for the Americans. They think they could win easily in trade war and tech war, that once it goes sideways for them, it is game over. They do not have a plan. The other important point, is that it is still all about Taiwan.

Anyone from San Francisco? Is it true they're shooing away the homeless people and cleaning up the place ahead of the big meeting?

I live in the SF Bay Area. Only certain parts of San Francisco have homeless concentrations. They're mostly around the Tenderloin and South of Market areas. That is closer to the Moscone Center where APEC meetings are taking place but it isn't like how the right-wing media paints it where they're everywhere. I'm sure the police and secret service are clearing areas where security is a concern but hiding it like India...? No.

Not that I think this is strange or anything, just amusing since people use to criticize CPC for doing campaigns to clean up cities before big public events as caring too much about face and superficial, turns out it's the same with USA.

From Moscone Center to where a lot of the consulates are which is the Pacific Heights area, they're going to see the homeless driving through. Clearing the homeless for security reasons... yes. To hide the homeless... no. I don't think San Francisco cares if people from other countries see them.

Taiwan in talks to set up non-diplomatic representative office in Estonia

  • Estonian cabinet has revised country’s approach to the island, allowing it to open the office in Tallinn
  • Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stresses that ‘we will not develop political relations with Taiwan’
Now I know why the Chinese uses say the phrase 波罗的海三傻

China Ready To Improve Ties With US 'At All Levels': VP

By AFP - Agence France Presse
November 8, 2023

China is ready to hold talks with the United States at "all levels", Beijing's vice president said Wednesday ahead of an expected summit in San Francisco between leaders Xi Jinping and Joe Biden next week.

Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Singapore, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng said recent high-level meetings between Beijing and Washington were sending "positive signals" that relations were improving.

"We're ready to strengthen communication and dialogue with the United States at all levels, advance mutually beneficial cooperation, properly manage differences and jointly address global challenges," Han said.

Relations between Washington and Beijing sunk to some of their deepest lows in recent years over a host of issues including export controls, human rights and national security.

But both sides appear willing to patch things up, with Washington sending a number of top officials to Beijing this year in a bid to strengthen communications.

US President Biden has said he expects to meet Chinese leader Xi on the sidelines of a summit in San Francisco next week for "constructive" talks.

While Beijing is yet to confirm the meeting, Han on Wednesday reiterated Xi's opinion that the question of US-China ties "bears on the future of humanity".

"The world is big enough for the two countries to develop themselves and prosper together," he said.

Two ways of possibly looking at this.

One is that the CCP are fools. Two is that the CCP likes the way things are going at the moment.

Currently, China does more trade with the Global South, than with Europe, America, and Japan, combined. Since growth rates are higher in China and higher in the Global South, well, we can figure out what is the future for the next couple of decades. That is the so-called trade war. The so-called tech war, Huawei is still here, and the Chinese IC industry is booming.

Bottom line, things are too far gone, to expect these two developments mentioned above to reverse themselves. There is a real permanence to the relationship between China and the Global South which will keep on expanding, and the momentum of the Chinese tech industry will roll onward and upwards.

Talking, or not talking, to the Americans won't change any of this, it won't change crap.
