I actually admire Dr. Yunus very much (seeing him on the Daily Show with John Stewart ages ago) and have read his book a while back. What he's done for microloans was very innovative and far reaching to many people in Bangladesh.

Yunus got a US Fullbright Scholarship. Getting one is a highly political affair. They are typically handed out as favors to people in families with close political ties to the US establishment. He also got medals from the President of the United States, and the United States Congress. His first wife was a US citizen and his first daughter was raised there. He is just about as obvious a US comprador as they come.
