Yup. This is what you wear when you appear in an a non-performative, official capacity. eg;
  • Opening ceremony (Closing tends to a lot more "informal" with a mixed bag of track suits and polo tees)
  • Official Public appearances and/or Sponsors call
  • Official functions
  • Official travel (eg, to Paris)

It's not so much about performance though it can have an indirect effect.
eg;
I can't imagine traveling long haul 13hrs to Paris in the Mongolian team attire or a Hanfu.
Also, I also can't quite see how the Mongolian team attire is comfortable over the entire duration of an opening ceremony which, for the participant, can be up to 8hrs ... from forming up at the hotel, to transit, to holding area, to stacking up the procession, to actual march in, to just standing/seating through the entire ceremony. All this is the summer heat.

As I've said, the style of the Mongol attire looks like an all or nothing enseme. You can't unbutton some buttons for a more cooling, relaxed fit. You can't take off a jacket if your lounging waiting.

So yeah, it can have an indirect effect on the athlete's condition for the next day or two if the attire is a uncomfortable sweatbox. For that matter, athletes who are concerned about their performance being affected, they outright do not attend the opening ceremony or are ordered not to sometimes.

Flowy is showy but not practical. Just needs one person to have those loose elements get caught in a door or escalator for viral vids that we don't need.

I agree that those jackets are quite western in style but they are practical.

Going with the theme that Jackets are practical - an alternative could be a Chinese style jacket with mandarin collars and frog buttons ... but then you'll have issues of looking like a waiter or some racist ching-chongy throwback jacket comment.

Medal presentation is always in track suits.
Did I mention I really love the China team track suits?
Wouldn't using the toilet especially in a confined or dirty one be a problem for the Mongolians athletics? The male in the traditional dress will have a handfull with multiple layers to manage? Imagine having to do it multiple times in a long journey.

South Korea has North Korea to repopulate them after the collapse though, so it’s not all over for Koreans. It’s ironic that they should almost thank the fact that China intervened in the Korean War and prevented unification.

Otherwise they’d be like Taiwan giving their land over to Indians.

Biden retreats back to his Delaware home after getting COVID. Trump attends late night Republican National Convention even after getting shot. See the difference.

There’s zero chance Biden will win the election. He’s either going to step aside using getting Covid as medical excuse, or lose to Trump in a landslide.

Furthermore, because of perceived weakness of Biden, democrats are at risk of losing the House too.

Biden should resign from the presidency to but we all know he wouldn’t. If he is unqualified to run as president. Then how is he still qualified to be president for 6 more months.

Interesting video displaying some manufacturing quality control in the e-bike industry in China. The stereotype is that China doesn't care about quality. No, it's really the US corporation that outsources who doesn't care about quality. I've heard it said you can get quality from China if you pay for it. That tells you how much US corporations are the ones that don't care about quality.

In China they can now tell which worker on the assembly line doesn't screw in a bolt correctly so he or she can be given more training if necessary because every part is tracked on each bike and they know who assembled it. I bet that kind of scrutiny would never be allowed by American unions hence why you have missing or untightened bolts on Boeing airliners.

This is how it is for every science and engineering environment. Smaller margins of error require more dps (decimal places) and every extra dp is a magnitude more expensive than the last. You want something with an extremely low margin of error? It's gonna cost ya. Capitalists will try to optimize for as few dps as possible that still sells.

Though I wouldn't expect the average consumer to understand that.
