Good looks are objectively, distinctively different from not so good ones.
I agree. But thats not what the discussion is about, this was triggered by hostile media talking shit on the Chinese, which they'll do regardless of whether the dress looks good, bad or made of angel hair. Because no matter what they wear, hostile media will shit on it. We shouldn't let hostile media's rhetoric shape our discussions. Its a complete non-issue.

It is not about the actual sports wear but the delegation's official representative attire.

Tokyo Olympic style official attire as reference, I even prefer the 2020 Tyoko version more because of the flowery accent for the female dress.

Red Suit and white pants just looks like Wendy's or McDonalds Manager kind of fit. Not saying the colour dont match, but in this specific case, especially with the given fabric and design style, it doesnt.

And then the whole shenanigangs why the fuck *CHINESE* wear clearly western style suits when you have literally styles like this in China available.

The performative sports wear actually looks good.

Right ok. So it’s the attire the athletes wear when for the opening and closing ceremonies. To be honest I’m not too bothered , they will only don it for few hours and global tv audience will just catch glimpse of them for at most 10 mins when they march in the stadium and waves those tiny flags. I guess with summer heat and all those people packed in the stadium the athletes and coaches probably will prefer something more airy and breathable.

maybe if they decide to wear them during the victory flag raising medal ceremonies I think the impact of wearing Chinese style uniform me will be greater imo. Or else I’m not too bothered.

Yup. This is what you wear when you appear in an a non-performative, official capacity. eg;
  • Opening ceremony (Closing tends to a lot more "informal" with a mixed bag of track suits and polo tees)
  • Official Public appearances and/or Sponsors call
  • Official functions
  • Official travel (eg, to Paris)

It's not so much about performance though it can have an indirect effect.
eg;
I can't imagine traveling long haul 13hrs to Paris in the Mongolian team attire or a Hanfu.
Also, I also can't quite see how the Mongolian team attire is comfortable over the entire duration of an opening ceremony which, for the participant, can be up to 8hrs ... from forming up at the hotel, to transit, to holding area, to stacking up the procession, to actual march in, to just standing/seating through the entire ceremony. All this is the summer heat.

As I've said, the style of the Mongol attire looks like an all or nothing enseme. You can't unbutton some buttons for a more cooling, relaxed fit. You can't take off a jacket if your lounging waiting.

So yeah, it can have an indirect effect on the athlete's condition for the next day or two if the attire is a uncomfortable sweatbox. For that matter, athletes who are concerned about their performance being affected, they outright do not attend the opening ceremony or are ordered not to sometimes.

Flowy is showy but not practical. Just needs one person to have those loose elements get caught in a door or escalator for viral vids that we don't need.

I agree that those jackets are quite western in style but they are practical.

Going with the theme that Jackets are practical - an alternative could be a Chinese style jacket with mandarin collars and frog buttons ... but then you'll have issues of looking like a waiter or some racist ching-chongy throwback jacket comment.

Medal presentation is always in track suits.
Did I mention I really love the China team track suits?

That looks comfy as fuck if you ask me, if you look at its just a robe with a belt plus some bracelets which might be uncomfortable.
One could always remove the bracelets when one is out of public.

PM Kishida apologizes to plaintiffs of Japan's forced sterilization eugenics program. That eugenics program looked like something out of a dystopian movie.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has formally apologized to a group of plaintiffs who were forcibly sterilized under the country’s decades-long former eugenics law following their lengthy campaign for justice.

The Eugenic Protection Law, in place from 1948 to 1996, allowed authorities to forcibly sterilize people with disabilities, including those with mental disorders, hereditary diseases or physical deformities and leprosy. It also allowed forced abortions if either parent had those conditions.

At least 25,000 people were sterilized under the law,
Kishida told a meeting at his official residence of about 130 survivors, many now elderly and in wheelchairs, public broadcaster NHK reported Wednesday.
Plaintiffs and their supporters have argued that a previous government compensation offer of 3.2 million yen (about $20,000) each was too low. They won a significant victory earlier this month, when

ordered the government to pay 16.5 million yen (about $105,000) each in damages to plaintiffs of several lawsuits and 2.2 million yen ($14,000) to their spouses.
PM Kishida could apologize to Japanese people, that were hurt by Japan's own eugenics program. But he still won't apologize for all the non-Japanese that were butchered, maimed, raped, and experimented on by the IJA. He is still a racist Nippon Kaigi.

Every evil the West and their lackeys accused China and Russia of doing, its always something that they have done themselves. Yet they talk as if they can be forgiven, but their adversaries could never be forgiven, even if it were false accusations.

And when the winds change and China comes out on top they'll be on their knees begging forgiveness and offering the wives and daughters. Justice comes after domination.

With greater protein consumption, along with milk and dairy, future Chinese will grow bigger, taller and stronger than any that the West can produce, even better because given different cultural drinking habits, the incidence of foetal alcohol syndrome could well be eliminated in China compared to the anglo saxon/celtic cultures. It'll be tough to justify how you're the master race if you're a weedy little incel punk on the internet trying not to get flattened by Chang and his 8 foot tall sons who would be more suited to manning the Great Wall, if your only saving grace is blue eyes and blonde hair.

Vietnam President To Lam Assigned to Oversee the Party, Report Says

  • To Lam, Vietnam’s No. 2 official, will take over temporarily
  • Politburo has mobilized medical resources to treat Trong
Vietnam’s most-powerful official, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong who heads the communist party, has stepped aside indefinitely due to health reasons, according to a government statement.

President To Lam, Trong’s long-time anti-corruption crusader who was appointed in May, will become the interim leader, the statement Thursday said.

Lam, the former minister of public security, became the country’s third president in less than two years after his two immediate predecessors resigned for “violations” that were possibly detected by the ministry that Lam oversaw.

In addition to Lam, candidates for the next party chief could be Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Tran Cam Tu, chairman of the Central Inspection Committee, because all have met the requirement of serving at least one term in the Politburo, Thayer said. The indefinite absence of Trong gives the party time to develop “a consensus of whether To Lam should be the candidate or someone new,” he said.
A new boss is in town in Vietnam, things might get dicey.

Can you imagine Americans voting for a Chinese person? Any Chinese person who does get votes has whitewashed themselves quite thoroughly.
Not Indian or Chinese, but Hung Cao is the Republican nominee for Virgina Senate, and was one of the keynote speakers at the recent Republican National convention. Born in Vietnam and came as a refugee.

Pretty impressive resume including Naval Academy, Applied Physics degree, and apparently Thomas Jefferson high school graduate (top 1 or 2 high school in the US, I think, and is 72% asian student body).

If Chinese Americans want to protect their interests and have their voices heard, then they should get more involved in politics.
