Shame that people who expose themselves aren’t usually the type you want exposed…
Shame indeed. We get what we pay for, most of the time. Wanna see something that won't scar your eyes? Gotta pay for that. Lubna Jaffery's show was FOC, except if you're a Norwegian. Damn... it must have sucked to pay taxes for that.

The problem with how Westerners think is they come up with the conclusion first and then work on which dots lead to their conclusions. That’s why they always have to rethink what they came up with before because they were wrong.
This isn't a bug but a feature. They literally teach this in schools. Every essay written is not to inform the truth but to tell a preconceived notion and support it. It is literally trained there from day 1. Evidence is citations - basically he said, she said. Observations are actually regarded as lower than citations. So what do you expect?

That's not the problem.

The point of that writing style is to persuade or convince of a point, and the whole point of citations is so that it's not just based on unverifiable personal observations.

In itself I don't see that as a problem. That's the whole point of academic writing: provide proof to support one's assertions. The problem is when confronted with evidence that conflicts with their preconceived notions they don't re-adjust their views to match the evidence and instead choose to reject the evidence.

Case in point:

1. Assumption: "Asians can't innovate"
2. When confronted with evidence of innovation:

Rather than go "Oh, we were wrong. They innovated", they go "They must have copied because we know they can't innovate."

That is the problem. It is the refusal to adjust views to fit reality, and instead a rejection of reality, and this kind of behavior seems to be seen even at an early age as demonstrated by my earlier post in this thread about that Danish student vs Chinese student competition. When the Danish students lost decisively, instead of reflecting on their failures and learning from them and doing better in the future, they (and their principal if I remember correctly) instead shifted the mental goalposts. They instead concluded that they had more fun so they were the "real" winners and that despite losing in the creativity contest, somehow they were still more creative (total denial of the results and reality).

12 bridges have collapsed in Bihar in over 17 days.

The other previous high-profile bridge collapses in Bihar:

This is Indian construction standards for everyone. Bihar is flood-prone, therefore it exposes crappy construction more than other parts of India. India is now the superpowar of falling bridges.
