Implications of this are huge, imho this is US plan to extent the dollar hegemony forever...

(Musk is CIA from the getgo he is just putting on a fake show, so read beyond the headlines)

Overnight half the world will be using US based openai AI.... every apple device and iphone will have the latest chatgpt (as API) baked into the iOS....

Each and every one of these devices will be spying for Uncle Sam, and worst yet, this one move will ensure as cloud intelligence gets baked into every layer of every product and every service, that the world will be beholden to US AI services and this AI ecosystem will be gate kept on condition of using US dollar....

First gold, then oil, now AI is the final frontier of USD extension.....

With Apple and Nvidia as hardware, Google Play and Andriod, and Azure and OpenAI as the cloud and intelligence layer, this is the US plan to turn the tide around and make good on its PNAC plan that it enacted at the turn the century circa 2001

The anti Huawei campaign, the TSMC thing and EUV ban, its all come down to this moment. I feel like US is going all in and even jumping the shark on AI because its America's last real hope and best objective bet at beating China in the great power competition

Just like with Nvidia GPU once gamers jumped to DLSS and game devs baked that into their games, there was no going back and AMD cards never held a chance, the DLSS API held everyone captive... likewise US is attempting in one fell swoop to do the same but with openai and azure as the AI and cloud layer, getting the rest of the world onto its platform so it can start collecting usury tax yet once again, all spearheaded by the move of Apple baking in openai to its iOS....

Perhaps China's best bet is to rug pull while it still can and do AR sooner rather than later, maybe before end of 2024
Openai is pretty much a scam. It operates off the principle of using the internet to select the next most likely word based on a prompt, making it basically a glorified search engine, hence why this "technology" is easily replicated anywhere, it is really old news with an user friendly facelift.

America already had Google to spy with, it didn't make them win the great power competition.

If China goes all in with highly aggressive tactics on curbing the US even today, there's not much US can do against having its industries cut off from components and necessary products alike. Sure US can say countries can't use Openai, forcing them to use chatbots that may be more optimal for Chinese language. This may be slightly annoying for some local netizens, but what really matters to governments and the majority population is: can we afford our overall livelihood? And if China stakes that ability on the implicit threat of dollar ban, there's nothing local governments can do but follow.

Hence even countries like Saudi that were in the past fully US reliant are forced to look into yuanization deals.

On the software side, China's strategy could involve leveraging advanced AI models like KLING. The KLING model has already made headlines for outperforming other leading models, and it could serve as a critical asset in China's AI arsenal. By training and developing state-of-the-art AI models, such as those utilizing dual architectures like diffusion and transformer combined, China can stay ahead of the curve. The key to this strategy would be the open release of these neural network weights, allowing global access and usage. By doing so, China could effectively democratize advanced AI technology, making it accessible to researchers and developers worldwide, and undermining the exclusivity of platforms like OpenAI.

This software strategy would require substantial investment in research and development, ensuring that Chinese AI models remain at the forefront of innovation. By prioritizing the development of multi-modal AI models and releasing them to the public, China could foster a global community of AI developers who rely on Chinese technology, thus increasing its influence and reach in the AI domain.

On the hardware side, China could focus on maintaining parity with U.S. technology by employing DUV (deep ultraviolet) multi-patterning techniques. Even if this approach is not immediately profitable, it could serve as a critical stopgap to ensure that Chinese manufacturing capabilities keep pace with global standards. This strategy would help bridge any technological gaps and sustain China's competitive edge during this crucial phase.

Furthermore, China could offer its cloud services to its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) partners and the Global South at heavily subsidized rates. By providing affordable cloud infrastructure, China can ensure that developing nations and BRI members have access to cutting-edge AI technologies. This would prevent these regions from becoming reliant on U.S.-based services like Microsoft Azure and OpenAI, instead fostering a dependency on Chinese cloud solutions.

By executing this dual-pronged strategy—leading in AI model development and ensuring widespread adoption through affordable cloud services—China could effectively counter the U.S. AI strategy. This approach would not only mitigate the risks posed by potential supply chain disruptions but also establish China as a formidable leader in the global AI race.

If all else fails, there is always the TW AR rug pull

While large language models (LLMs) like those developed by OpenAI are not sentient and do not emulate the biology of a human brain, they are nonetheless extremely useful from a functional and utility standpoint. It is reductive to dismiss them merely as "next word prediction." The transformer architecture, especially with its attention mechanisms, allows LLMs to achieve a level of complexity that makes them generatively applicable to everyday tasks, significantly enhancing productivity.

These models act as intellectual multipliers. Even though they don't experience qualia or solve the hard problem of consciousness, their economic impact is undeniable. LLMs are capable of performing tasks that were once solely within the realm of human creativity and intellectual labor. Their emergent properties allow them to generate content, analyze data, and automate complex processes, effectively displacing a wide range of tasks previously thought to be exclusive to human expertise.

From a technical performance standpoint, these models are incredibly powerful tools. They can automate and enhance numerous workflows, saving time and resources, and pushing the boundaries of what technology can achieve. This utility is significant and transformative, contributing to advancements across various industries and sectors.

In conclusion, dismissing OpenAI's technology as a glorified search engine overlooks its profound utility and impact. While not sentient, these models provide substantial benefits, driving efficiency and innovation in ways that were previously unimaginable.

Putin set to visit North Korea, Vietnam, Vedomosti reports

MOSCOW/HANOI, June 10 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit North Korea and Vietnam in the coming weeks, Russia's Vedomosti newspaper reported on Monday, with an official telling Reuters the Vietnam visit was planned for June 19-20 but has not yet been confirmed.

Putin's visit to Pyongyang is being "actively prepared", Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora confirmed to the newspaper.

The newspaper reported that Putin could visit Vietnam as early as June and most likely immediately after his visit to North Korea.

An official in Vietnam told Reuters the dates of the Hanoi visit had been agreed, but the agenda was still under discussion. Energy, military cooperation, settlement of payments and an agreement in the education field are among the main issues expected to be discussed, the official said.

Vedomosti quoted Russia's trade representative in Vietnam as saying last month that the most pressing trade issue between the two countries was banking support for settling payments.

Vietnam's foreign ministry did not reply to a request for comment.

So we could see Putin in North Korea within 1.5 weeks.

The premier of the People’s Republic of China, Li Qiang, will visit Australia for three days from 15 June, the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, says.

“This will be the first visit to Australia by a Chinese premier since 2017 and represents another important step in stabilising our relationship with China,” Albanese told reporters at Parliament House this afternoon.

The premier and I will hold the annual leaders’ meeting here at Parliament House in Canberra. It will be followed by a state lunch here in the Great Hall, attended by members of the government, the opposition, as well as business and community leaders.

Premier Li will also travel to Adelaide prior to Canberra and then on to Perth. The premier and I will engage with Australian and Chinese business leaders at the seventh Australia China CEO roundtable. This will make a valuable contribution to strengthening relationships between business leaders in China and Australia. As people know, China represents around about 25% of our export debt in terms of a destination.

We’ll also acknowledge, of course, the deep contribution of the more than 1 million members of the Chinese Australian community to our nation’s multicultural success story. Premier Li’s visit to Australia follows my visit to Beijing in November last year.

I wonder if there are specific commercial reasons why visits to Perth and Adelaide are part of the agenda, as these are only Australia's 4th- and 5th-largest cities respectively. Canberra is smaller again, but as the national capital there is no mystery there.

U.S. Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns on U.S.-China Relations

NEW YORK, June 6, 2024 — Ambassador Nicholas Burns delivers remarks on the state of U.S.-China relations and discusses related issues with Orville Schell, vice president and Arthur Ross director of the Asia Society Center’s on U.S.-China Relations. (58 min., 56 sec.)

- Asia Society

Disclaimer: Nicholas is a far-right (i.e. neocon) Anglo-supremacist US politician.

Personal Opinions:

As one might have guessed, during the speech , Burns lies constantly about China (and Russia). Saying that they both have changed for the worse and that they are responsible for the deteriorating relations. At no point in the speech does this neocon thug take any responsibility. just like the rest of his neo-fascist ilk, he acts like an US imperial overlord over the world.

How is it that the US sends these kind of people to sovereign nations and then pretends that they will be seen as "diplomats".

Nicholas Burns, who might or may not be a sinophobe but who definitely is an Anglo-Supremacist/US Imperialist, is being send to China to do diplomacy. Who in their right mind would send a guy like that to China!!??? (serious question)

It is like a similar stunt the US pulled in 2013 when they send Michael McFaul , a certified Russobhobe, to Russia as ambassador. Have these "fine people" in the US state department lost their minds ?

Under Trump, Richard Grenell was another diplomatic "gem" that acted in a similar way when he got posted to Germany (a US vassal state).

To summarize: US neocon-neolib thugs/professional liars like Nicholas Burns or Michael McFaul are NOT friends of China, Russia or any other sovereign nation on earth. These thugs act like military governors ready to dictate US terms to the governments of the countries they are sent to.

IMHO, Nicholas burns should have been kicked out of China a while ago. He is no friend of China's or any other sovereign nation.
