Let's not forget, the Iranian president has about as much power as the prime minister of Qatar or the president of Vietnam. He decides the details, but the big decisions are made by the supreme leader. He has decided to move towards Russia and China and that won't change even with a new president.Xi Jinping expresses his condolences over the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter accident.
The death of Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash is tragic indeed. Although I do not discount the possibility of foul play, I'm still in wait-and-see mode. I just don't think that his death is something to rejoice or make fun off. As a fellow brother in resistance along with Russia and China, Iran had just lost its president along with other ministers in a relatively tumultuous period. I would show them some respect.
Western media had been quick to portray Raisi's death as "celebratory" among Iranians. This is the same Western media that told us that Russia is losing in Ukraine, China is collapsing, Putin and the CPC are unpopular in their own respective countries, etc. Their propaganda is as weak as their source, i.e. questionable social media posts. This is not something worth entertaining or promoting.
The president may become the new leader if Khamenei dies, but maybe not. He might even survive for a bit longer. So Raisi dying just means that a relatively pro China politician can't become next leader anymore, but I'm fairly sure they're not going to allow any pro western person to even participate in the election for the next president
