In a sense, Bytedance holds the fate of the election (and the US) in the palm of its hand. If they decide not to sell their US operations to an American company and TikTok gets banned, then Biden is finished. His support of Israel, as little as it impacts our daily lives, has already turned much of the youth against him. He will not survive a TikTok ban. If they decide to sell their US operations and TikTok doesn't get banned, then there may be hope for Biden.
It goes both ways. If Biden admin believe they have no chance of winning, then they no longer fear any unpopular decisions.
