HK was essential for the modernisation and opening up of China at the time, a gateway for both China and the West to do business behind the scene. Taking HK by force would not have helped China at that time at all.
It created a new petite bourgeoisie class that allows for infiltration and subversion by neoliberal ideology. The phenomenon is not unique to HK either. You can find this newly monied class in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing as well. And now that they are well entrenched in contemporary Chinese culture, getting rid of that rot is going to supremely difficult.

It would be 5 fat targets for China. They can threaten the North Korea however. Maybe something is coming up in the Korean Peninsula?

China better gets ready though. Some of the warmongers in the US are really unhinged.

In reality, China was probably still the largest exporter to the US last year.

The part that killed me is when the Baizuo Karen screams the drugs come from you to the anti-drug Chinese Canadians.
This is funny in another way if you think about it...
Opium war was how the British gained control of HK, and it was basically downhill for Qing China from there
So if anything, Chinese should know a thing about how destructive opioids are, especially HK Chinese

Also, the sheer industrial output of China can be seen as a response not to repeat history, so in a way it was Karen's great-great grandpa that started the ball rolling.

As an aside, sadly for these addicts and their families, I don't know a single older Chinese person who doesn't have this "well now you guys get it, right?" attitude

Interestingly, the DEA credited President Xi with cracking down on Fentanyl

Effective May 1, 2019, China officially controlled all forms of fentanyl as a class of drugs. This fulfilled the commitment that President Xi made during the G-20 Summit.

From the same document, it seems that the Cartels have shift their sights to India as a potential source due to their lax regulations and relatively mature pharmaceutical industry.

Russia does not need FOBS. Sarmat will be able to directly hit the US via the South Pole without doing an orbit. The Avangard hypersonic glide vehicles will travel by skipping over the atmosphere. Calling it FOBS is a misnomer.

As for ASAT, some claim the A-235 Nudol will be capable of doing it.
Russia might also try to put a modernized Kontakt ASAT in the MiG-31 platform into service:

With regards to inspector aka "parasite" satellites all the three major powers (US, China, Russia) have them. You could easily attach a bomb to an inspector satellite if you wanted to.

I have doubt the two Koreas are going to conflict. I will even go as far as that SK/ Japan will take advantage of Europe decline and make more of US military support them on top of that Korea/Japan are getting more entrenched in Mideast markets. in Arabic media they are saying Japan is still largest auto exporter in 2023 and in addition Japan produce nearly twice of its domestic auto production outside. Korea/Japan can handle Trump better than Europe. Russia officials do not visit countries on bilateral visits that have sanction imposed on them but Russian deputy FM visited South Korea recently.
