The real reason is they don't understand why they are powerful. If China collapse today on its own, US will convince themselves overpriced health care is the reason they succeeded and China didn't. Then they will double down on something stupid to accelerate its own decline.
The irony is that they don't take there own advice. One of the often told stories is that the US ratchet up military spending forcing the Soviets to do as well which was one large contributor of their collapse. But guess who is doing the same today? Military/veterens/national security (1.5 T) composes about 1/3 of tax revenues (4-5 trillion). US debt interest is nearing 1 trillion a year as well ... Seems like the US will be borrowing Trillions every year to keep a float.
Americans have been told time and again they alone won the cold war against the Soviet Union and their "victory" were based off on the false narrative and fictitous stories of FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY, HUMAN RIGHTS and the beauty of American exceptionalism. American leadership in American defense establishment didn't even realize that U.S.S.R. was already decaying in the 1970s, the C.I.A. did not foresee the collapse of the Soviet Union. But when the unforeseen collapse occured, the Americans from top to bottom patted themselves in the back and created stories to sell to their already indoctrinated masses from within and without how America saw, came, and conquered COMMUNISM away.
US is an extension or development of European feudal colonialist regimes. In the old days, they were openly colonial and oppressive. Today, they do it clandestinely, by way of opposites, almost exactly as how was described in the dystopian '1984' novel by George Orwell.

The old, apparent feudal system of monarchies was replaced by capitalist corporate oligarchy that is presented with a mask of "freedom and democracy". The system got a facial, make up applied, but underneath nothing really changed; old brokers of power remained intact.

The old feudal way was of a small minority elite owning most of the resources, land and wealth, while employing a large majority who develops (but doesn't own) those resources, land and wealth. The idea of democracy instilled into the psyche of the majority gave them a false sense of liberation, making them more productive in employment of the minority elite. It changed nothing but the perception. The common man still doesn't own much, and if he does, it gets devalued with time.

The common man has been convinced that signing a lease and mortgage makes him the owner, but he is a slave to debt and taxes that he cannot escape. When he becomes frustrated, he protests within the system, seeking a change; he decides to vote for another leader, and when his vote wins, it calms his nerves. But that another leader is just another face of a system that remains unaffected. Democracy is, in a nutshell, a game of musical chairs with changing faces; a revolving door for elite corporate executives. Democracy works for the elite, not for the people.

But how democracy works in the rest of the world is what really benefits the American interests. In poor countries, a democratic process involving multiple opposing faces allows the US to bribe and fund campaigns of leaders that are best for US interests.

America is imperialist. Democracy is the easiest tool to achieve their imperial goals of global exploitation. Imagine an authoritarian regime that doesn't bow to the US, i.e. Iran or North Korea; since there are no opposing parties in the political process, there is no way for USA to forward it's interests here which leaves them to pursue more difficult solutions such as war and sanctions, or "regime change". For this reason, US is always hell bent on "spreading democracy".

We know that the US has no interest in improving the lives of global citizens, nor for democracy itself which it peddles around the globe. We know this because of numerous instances when a popular anti-US democracy was overthrown by the US and replaced by authoritarian regimes or attempts to derail the democratic process,
  1. 1952-1954 Democratic leader of Guatemala overthrown by a US led coup, replaced by a military dictatorship.
  2. 1953 Democratically elected leader of Iran ousted in a coup orchestrated by US/UK, replaced by dictator Shah.
  3. 1958 US sponsored a failed revolt against the president of Indonesia.
  4. 1961 US failed at invading Cuba, failed attempts to assassinate Cuban president.
  5. 1965 US invaded Dominican Republic to oust the democratically elected, scholarly polymath president Juan Bosch.
  6. 1968 US fixed a fraudulent election in Guyana after British "decolonization".
  7. 1962-1970 US sponsored Chilean generals to prevent democratic elections that favored the popular Salvador Allende.
  8. 1969-1973 Entire population of the Chagos Peoples ethnically cleansed from Diego Garcia to make room for a US naval base.
  9. 1972-1975 US armed Kurdish terrorists to rebel against Iraq .
  10. 1979-1990 US supported the Contra terrorists in Nicaragua to overthrow the democratically elected Sandinista.
And when a non-democratic pro-US government appears, America goes totally quite. Such is the case with Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait - all dictatorships, and all allied with the US; supported and armed by the US.

The people of this country (and it's vassals) are brainwashed beyond belief. For example, we are taught in history class in school that US and its vassals won WWII, when in fact if you look at the actual history, it was the Soviets who did the bulk of the fighting in the Eastern Theatre. They don't teach us that Soviets captured Berlin. The aim here is to persuade the citizens that Western/American system is the best.

Any system of governance that isn't similar to the American, which also produces considerable success in development is a major, major threat to American global imperialism. The current Chinese system, for example, if other countries began adopting it, would wreak havoc on American domination. That is why China, in my opinion, is seen as an extreme threat.

I have noticed that happening for many weeks. It happens only sometimes, and when it happens it doesn't make a difference whether I am logged into twitter or not. However, in my case the links briefly appear for few seconds and then completely disappears. So i just reload the page and quickly click the link.
I think many people doesn't notice this because usually people would write a post along with the twitter link. So you would see that text and not realize a twitter link was also supposed to be there.

I'm also seeing the twitter links disappear. This problem started yesterday I think.

Yea. It started around 24-36 hours ago. I refreshed the page and the twitter link is visible for 1 second before vanishing. However, I can see the twitter links if I use the browser app instead.

Strangely, turning on another ad blocker somehow stopped the links disappearing for me without preview mode.

Debauchery in the halls of the Anglo American senate
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

Incidentally, the U.S. politician and powerbroker Lindsey Graham is a well known closeted homosexual who often refers to the moles on his perineum as “ladybugs”.

Now, what ppl do in their free time is on themselves, however this debauchery in the very halls of power indicates the level of corruption and contempt that the U.S. elites have towards the sanctity of their office. It’s really no different to the orgies and extravagant parties the nobles of pre revolution France indulged in before their appointment with Mme Guillotine.
