Whom do Yellen and her ilks think they are fooling? The vast majority of Chinese readily sees through their nonsense. I would love to see Yellen's face when she is informed that 93% of Chinese are satisfied with their central government (table 1) and the Chinese people and their government are inseparable.

No wonder India soldiers' balls are carefully checked. I guess you can only serve in the Indian army if your have balls of iron so you can resist honey-traps.
What is the efficacy or even necessity of such "inspection" if it's not medically related? Does bigger balls mean better martial prowess? Lol

Probably due to the fact that India is still after all this time is simply salty that China is more critical to Russia in regards to the overall play in regards to the future despite India being more fanatical in support for Russia that well, they do things like this to compensate. They was a post comparing Russian younger generation impressions between India and China and most of the Russians express genuine respect for China vs the utter disgust and revulsion towards India given their less then clean practices as there main reason. This inspection on shaft sizes only adds fuel to the fire

If this were the West in their tea leaves reading of how things work, this would be a sign how the economy is doing well because these are luxuries and when people don't feel confident over the economy, they buy only essentials not luxuries. The same with cars and China is selling more than ever. But for China it means something totally different to them. In the West they would spin offline sales as a great sign because it means people are spending money on gas to go to brick and mortar stores buying luxury items. Or look at the opposite. The US is buying more than ever from China and they think Americans buying Chinese products is the only thing that makes China's economy work and yet somehow China's economy is doing bad. China has already passed economic thresholds where the West said China would plunged in rioting and chaos in the streets. Where's the rioting and chaos? If it were them they would claim there economies were doing well. The reason why the US TV media is not reporting French riots that's gone on long before these police killings is because of exactly how they would interpret it if it were China.

The West has to resort to reading tea leaves because it's like how only the few can interpret what God wants to everyone else. Reading tea leaves doesn't require logic and intelligence. If everyone could do it for themselves, how do they control the message? Reading tea leaves is all about throwing out logic and intelligence. The West doesn't want money going to China so they have to discourage it in every way. Biden wants to pass laws to prevent investing into China. That's already having an affect where people like Warren Buffet are divesting from BYD because if he waits until Biden signs the bill into law, he'll lose even more money. And then the US will spin that as China's economy is doing badly that everyone wants out.

Yellen sees 'progress' in rocky U.S.-China ties, expects more communication

BEIJING, July 9 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said 10 hours of bilateral meetings with senior Chinese officials in recent days were "direct" and "productive" and helped stabilise the often rocky relationship as her four-day Beijing trip ended.

Yellen, who departs Beijing on Sunday, told a press conference the United States and China remained at odds on a number of issues but she expressed confidence that her visit had advanced U.S. efforts to "put the U.S.-China relationship on surer footing."
"The U.S. and China have significant disagreements," Yellen told reporters at the U.S. embassy in Beijing, citing Washington's concerns about what she called "unfair economic practices" and recent punitive actions against U.S. firms.

"But President (Joe) Biden and I do not see the relationship between the U.S. and China through the frame of great power conflict. We believe that the world is big enough for both of our countries to thrive."

Sounds like the Yellen has reached the acceptance stage, lets see if the US drops the tariffs.

Yellen looked pretty tense meeting Li Qiang earlier.

Is that really the case? The Song was notable in that it lost against barbarian tribes even when it was at the zenith of its power precisely because of its poor policy with respect to military leadership. Every other time that China lost battles or even parts of the country to barbarian tribes, it was already in a state of decline or weak government like the Jin Dynasty. Whenever the country was united and strong, they usually performed well against enemies whether it was the Han or Tang against the Xiongnu or Gokturks, or even the Ming against the Mongol Tribes outside of the Tumu crisis.

I find that China with such a long history has its failures more amplified, compared to the Romans where they had their moment and then when it came crashing down that it was it for them.
Han and Tang both had their moments with native armies, especially the Han during the reign of Wu Di, but for the vast majority of their military history, it was "using barbarians to fight barbarians." China's military performance was historically pretty solid, but much of it was achieved via foreign vassals, not native armies. The Tang in particular was famous for its "barbarian" generals who ended up rebelling and destroying the empire.

You know what brother ansy1968?

We already know what is going to happen.

The Biden administration, will next ban Huawei again.

The Biden administration will ban Huawei AI, they will ban the journal Nature from US, and they will ban the weather since the weather was a collaborator with Huawei, obviously the weather is guilty and the Biden administration will ban the weather. Justice will prevail, according to Demented Joe.

It is kind of remarkable what a kick ass company Huawei really is.

This weather model, was developed in house by researchers, their own staff, doing AI.

The computer racks where this AI is being preformed, is built by Huawei, uh, the same people.

This server rack will be connected to the 5G network, possibly AI edge computing, meaning direct access for the end user to powerful AI systems for personal use. And of course, we know who builds that.

O'Sullivan and O'Blinky will have mutual hissy-fit, will ban Huawei next week. Book it.

:D
