That article by that non-economics guy was very superficial.
All he did was rebroadcast the news, with his own spin which is China will not succeed, without giving any legitimate reason why.
No reasons were argued probably because he does not understand the underlying economic issues, policies, and directions that those will take.
Two things to remember, which is to say that such points refute that article, is:-
1) the growth of the Chinese economy and its expanding trade
2) the dual circulation strategy
The Chinese economy is growing and getting bigger, and it trades more with the rest of the world, and with the signing of RCEP and CAI deals, this is facilitate more of the same. This in not a revelation nor is it really news. Yet some how that because a point of contention for Schuman. He's just arguing for argument's sake (without actually putting forth an argument).
The dual circulation strategy is a little more complicated, because that is motivated by cutting off the American tech firms from the China market. The CCP will not come out and say, "we are going to cut you off", so they invent this strategy of dual circulation. On one had they want to cut off the American tech firm from China, the internal circulation, building up domestic high tech industry. On the other hand, a clear signal that China is still for open for business, as evident by the increasing trade numbers and the RCEP and CAI deals signed.
That's my take. That is kind of basic. But Schuman spins an alternative universe.
