US sending more fighter jets to Middle East – Pentagon

American officials announced the deployment of F-22s, citing “provocative” Russian air operations

The US military has sent additional fighter jets in the Middle East in response to “increasingly unsafe” activity by Russian aircraft in the region, including several incidents in Syria.

F-22 Raptors with the 94th Fighter Squadron were deployed from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, according to Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees US military operations in the Middle East, Central Asia and parts of Africa.

The decision was part of a “multifaceted show of US support and capability in the wake of increasingly unsafe and unprofessional behavior by Russian aircraft,” CENTCOM said in a press release on Wednesday.

Pentagon officials have accused Moscow of reckless flights over US bases in Syria in recent weeks, with CENTCOM chief General Erik Kurilla claiming there has been a “significant spike” in “provocative” actions since March.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal in April, Air Force Lieutenant General Alexus Grynkewich warned that the rise in tensions could lead to a “miscalculation” among Russian and American pilots operating in Syria, stating there were 60 separate incidents between March and April alone.

F-22s to the Middle East? I doubt it just has to do with Russian aircraft in Syria. Iran buying SU-35 likely played a role in the decision.

Between China and North Korea possibly, not South Korea. The creation and existence of South Korea itself are American. South Korea is unsalvageable.

"These two nations share far greater similarity than the US with either."
That is the problem for SKoreans. They can't stand their "uniquely Korean" ethnic prides that define their fragile collective ego are actually Chinese. No such confliction with the U.S. They can sell "This is our Korean-unique food", "This is our Korean-unique costume", "This is our Korean-unique festival", "This is our Korean-unique beauty", "This is our Korean-unique architecture", "This is our Korean-unique game", "This is our Korean-unique traditional patterns", "This is our Korean-unique pottery" etc. to Americans, but not to the Chinese.

Look at how much similarity between Russians and Ukrainians and how Ukrainian nationalists hate and deny anything Russian.
Yup agree with your point, like us here, we're still looking for our own national identity and identifying with the west for cultural reference (both Spanish and American influence) make it hard for us to develop indigenously.

Complete silence and no communication is likely worse than some communication even if it might end up being for nothing.

At the end of the day, it was judged by the people at the top in China, that some communication and this meeting with Blinken is better than not.
Chinese leaders are master at these things. You show the US the stick, but when the moment comes you show a bit of carrot as well

It is necessary to keep some sort of balance because after all, China doesn't want war as well. But that doesn't mean that it is a soft persimmon for the US to humiliate every time with its pathetic signalling and games.

In any case, all these back and forths, actions or counteractions, serve China number 1 strategic priority. To buy more time on its rivalry with the US. One extra year of development is, one extra year that China chips away at Western Hegemony, one extra year that the PLA is expanding even more.

I see this as a positive thing.

It doesn't mention China/Taiwan much and mostly focuses on Russia and Germany's own military.

Could be a plan by Scholz trying to rein Baerbock in from provoking China too much by setting an agreed upon "strategy document"

But I'll continue to wait and see. Scholz seems to have turned anti-China from neutral

Never understand why people still think it is a good idea to invest in India. China never forced foreign companies to appoint key executive positions as local, selling shares, giving out contracts to local inferior suppliers, using local components that don't meet the standard, or forming joint venture for no particular purpose.

Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi are just the worst type of companies that don't even have any backbone to make a stand.

China-based companies like Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi, among others, have been asked to induct Indian equity partners,

reported today (June 13). They are being asked to appoint Indians in key roles, it said citing three unnamed people who were present when company executives and Indian government representatives met to discuss the matter.
It's good news for me. This is a wake up call for Chinese smartphone makers who still wanna do business in India. I know that their presence there is mainly for making money. But if India is making it harder for them to do that, then it is only a matter of time before they run out of business patience.

So India is forcing foreign companies to give equity, appoint local top executives, forced JV with selected local companies, and forced contract with selected local suppliers. I've seen it all before in Malaysia for decades. The result? 30 years of FDI and technology transfers, and Malaysia still cannot produce any complex finished goods without relying on foreign imports. Innovation is at a standstill. Competitiveness of local companies in the global market is remains poor. That is the future that awaits India. Good for you India. Please continue.

Ye it's strange how India can start off with access to British tech and moved on to Soviet tech in the 70s to 10s and gain access to American and Israeli tech more recently yet never manage to make anything truly their own yet expect something different with more tech transfers.

New Czech President, well known US puppet is supposedly "sharing a stage" with Taiwan FM

However, they could argue its not exactly a violation of One China principle since Joseph Wu was only attending as a guest of the NGO summit

What do you guys think? Should China retaliate?
At some point it NATO wants to actually have real control over Chinese areas, they have to attack with armed force. Words and photo ops won't help against Chinese fortifications and weapons.

If that happens, China has more than enough stored up to stop a NATO offensive in its tracks. But China won't pick a direct fight with NATO, not as long as it can fight at a safe distance using proxy conflicts such as the Ukraine war.

The bottom line for NATO is that they need to break through, land AND be able to supply a signficant invasion force inside Taiwan. And this force would have to be sustained long enough for China to believe NATO control over Taiwan is a fait accompli, which might mean years or decades. Whereas China just needs to shoot everything that is forced to rush into the area, and they have tools which are the best at that particular type of action.

I do think eventually that because there is a threat of not just US but all of NATO invading China, China should station large amounts of troops in western Russia, so that the demilitarization of NATO home country electric grids can immediately start the very moment a NATO country joins the war. But quite frankly, most of the NATO cannot make their way all the way to Asia.
